First up is my "Clone-ish M16A2" built behind enemy lines (bayo lugs + barrel threads + A2 flash hiders = so evil we should give him the chair). The M4 ramps and OD furniture, while not clone correct, warm my heart. - Recent production (2007) Colt 6520 receiver with M4 feedramps ["C" / Cerro Forge (keyhole) marked]. - 2019 Colt M16A4 barrel - Same profile as an A2, but with M4 ramps ("C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7" marked). - Colt BCG ("C" marked carrier / "MPC" marked bolt) and Colt Charging Handle. - Armalite clamp on FSB and pin/weld PWS FSC556. - Armalite M15A2 furniture in OD green (perfect match to Magpul OD). - PSA M16A2 clone lower. - Standard cotton web sling (OD). https://i.imgur.com/bbTnoP9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/j6R2iAj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Us81p2W.jpg https://i.imgur.com/il7OHKr.jpg Next is my A2/A1 hybrid experiment. Wanted something unique, so threw this "Franky" together. Great balance with the heavy Larue barrel underneath. - 1990's Colt Sporter "big hole" upper with offset bushing and M4 feedramps ("C M" marked). - 14.5" Larue Stealth barrel in .223 Wylde (1/8 twist) with M4 feedramps and midlength gas system. - Colt BCG ("C" marked carrier / "MPC" marked bolt) and Colt Charging Handle (lucked out and snagged an older gray one that is perfect match to the upper). - Armalite clamp on FSB and pin/weld PWS FSC556. - Surplus A1 furniture, to include some cut-to-fit midlength hanguards with a custom "fatboy" triangle endcap. - PSA PA-15 lower. - Standard cotton web sling (black). https://i.imgur.com/wq00vuu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mmptYGu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QAg0RSu.jpg Love them both. Glad I finally took the plunge with a 20" A2 build. Can't wait to revert back to the good old loop sling support and relive some memories from the Isle of Parris. When every rifle you own starts to looks like something out of Buck Rogers or Star Wars, you know that it's time to get back to the basics. https://i.imgur.com/rMCkwSj.jpg View Quote Well, just over one year later and the bug struck again... I had such great feedback from the buyer of the Midlength A2/A1 Hybrid that I decided to build another one for myself. This one is a Ballistic Advantage / Colt combo and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out (I think the spade roll mark and BCG add a nice touch for the whole throwback theme). Perhaps I'm tapping into a new market for Midlength Retro truck guns. Hmmm... - Cerro Forge A2 upper with M4 feedramps. - 14.5" Ballistic Advantage Modern Series barrel (1/7 twist, Midlength/Gov't Profile). - Armalite clamp on FSB and pin/weld PWS FSC556. - Surplus Colt A1 furniture, to include cut-to-fit midlength handguards with another custom "fatboy" triangle endcap. - All other parts are from Ballistic Advantage. - Standard cotton web sling (black). I have quite a few sets of A1 handguards and several custom endcaps left. I'm trying to guage if there would be any interest in pre-cut handguard kits like this. I might post one or two up in the EE to test the waters. |

And the old Bushmaster stuff is great. Where did you get that purple buffer tube? |

Updated it.
Additionally, I was finally able to understand how that light mount was to be modified in order to fit into that gas block crack thing onto the front post; needed to shave down metal off of the Surefire M14 mount (done). Then it slips in and it's easier to offset any flashlight to the side. Done. Kind of a non-accurate (but still standing) clone of Black Hawk Down and Blood Diamond, I'd say Blood Diamond-ish by SoloDallas, on Flickr |

After nearly a decade it’s perfect. The original build had a PSA barrel with a canted FSB. New barrel is a Windham 20” and it’s flawless. The Windham handguards look and feel like current Colt. Installed a chalky Colt A2 grip. It’s a sweet shooter and while it doesn’t come out much it is one of my favorites. |
