BHD 723 ModCE(close enough). Boats are expensive, got it shootable and calling it good for now. Hopefully a period-correct optic and light among other changes will be there in the fall.
Fun to shoot but man I forgot how jangly sling hooks can be.

Thanks.
I had originally built that A2 from a spare lower. PSA got the A2 marked lowers back in stock literally the day I finished it so I had to order one, meaning now I’ve got the original lower as a spare again so you where that’s heading. I think one is going to become a Mile 22 Mk18 clone.

I got my M16A2-ish "clone" done. It's not a perfect clone but it's close enough for me... I have the parts to have made it a bit more close to the original, but I prefer the A1 flash suppressor over the A2. Also a few other minor details that you probably wouldn't notice unless you really had to have clone perfection.

Parts list...

RRA complete upper.

Windham Weaponry barrel.

Handguards are from LMT, but they are the same as Colt and Windham Weaponry handguards. Though getting these from LMT was very much luck of the draw.

ALG QMS trigger.

Stock body was from Windham Weaponry, same as Colt's. Whoever makes these for them applies a dry film lube to the outside of these to make them appear grey. Fulton has the same stock but without the dry film lube so it's more black since it's just the color of the plastic that the stock is made of.

Most parts are Colt, but some parts are not... I'm very specific about what I put into this though, so no crap parts.

P.S. Pay no mind to the Anderson lower.

Like it or not, the A1 flash suppressor.

Real NOS aluminum A2 trap door with steel latch.

Amateur hour here, we don't use lock washers in our collectable Colt chalky grips.

Perfectly rolled sling swivel rivet as done by myself with the Schuster sling swivel rivet punch and a hammer. The key to this perfection is to use Colt rivets as sold by Specialized Armament. Commercial brand rivets always split on me, I think it's because they are about 1/16th longer than the Colt rivets.

This was my first build project ever way back in 2005, all Colt parts A2 clone.

It started early in 2005 with a USGI never issued new M-16A2 upper half which I installed Colt M-16 auto bolt carrier group and Colt charging handle.

Then about mid 2005 I found a stripped lower receiver Colt Match Target MT6601 at my local gun shop.

I installed Colt LPK from Specialized Armament (AZ), the buttstock group was a Colt M-16A2 take off that I got from a local machine gun dealer.

The grip was from one of my Colt carbine that I changed the grip to a Magpul MIAD.

Currently I got another Colt AR-15A4 model R0901006CK conversion kit upper half for it that came with a Magpul MOE rifle handguards, I installed another new Colt A2 handguards on it.

I did some work on my A2 today and am pretty happy right now so I'll post up a couple of pics thou by this time next week the whole lower is going to be different but when that happens I'll post again.

I posted some of this in another thread but my first rifle I ever bought was a Colt Sporter Hbar back in 1992. I HATED the half moon carrier, the big ping FCG, the lack of a front push pin, the heavy barrel, the sear block and the shaved bayonet lug. I ended up selling it around 22 years ago.

I decided to build the rifle that I really wanted back then and so far this is is.

Windham 1/7 twist barrel Govt profile
AO Precision (they make the BCGs for FN) phosphate  BCG with sprinco springs
Colt receiver extension, buffer and spring
NOS light gray charging handle I picked up from the EE that looks identical to a Colt and probably is
FN stock
Colt LPK with Colt grop
Geissele lower

Today I got my new FN stock on, was able to get the proper sized gas pin so it's not protruding and replaced the crush washer with a peel washer and replaced the black CH with the grey one. It now looks right to me. :)

Swapped my upper out again tonight.  Just waiting on a light mount to run it with this set up and I’ll rattle can it.  Not a perfect clone by any means but it’ll be my Gordon carbine.

I'm working on an A2 inspired build and recently purchased the A2 buttstock.  It looks more gray than black.  Noticing that a lot of these buttstocks in this pic thread are more of a gray than a black.  Does anyone paint or dye them?...or embrace the gray?

Grey wears out thru use.  Same as the finish on the gun itself.
