So I am building a Colt 723ish clone. Has anyone seen a 723 with a flat slipring ? I have found tons of pictures of 653's with them but not a 723. I am using a Colt grey M-16A1 upper( no brass deflector) and I have all the parts to do it but no grey delta ring. I do have a great grey slip ring but would this be a non-correct part? I know the 723 is a real mixmaster when it comes to features but I just have had no luck finding a pic of one with a slipring. Thanks, Michael

Nope, 700 series carbines like the 723 had "A2" features such as the Delta ring, A2 flash suppressor/comp, 1/7 rifling, and finger grooved pistol grip.

ETA:  You'd also be fine using a black delta ring with a dark gray upper, odd colored delta rings weren't that uncommon on that era guns.

To each his own of course, but below is what's listed in Colt catalog:

Well I found a 1985 print ad for the model 723 ( prior to 1986 when they could be sold to the public) that had the 723 with a delta ring and an A1 upper minus the brass deflector so I have decided that that is the version of the 723 that I am putting together. The thing with the 723 is that there were no absolutes with that model except for a delta ring and A2 grip. I have yet to find a picture of a 723 without those parts.
