Nice collection.  I concur that the mags with  ammo should be in a safe. Ammo should also be in a safe.    I see a lot of people with unsecured ammo and mags on this thread.     Lets be responsible gun owners and secure this stuff.

Really, stop that nonsense. I just threw a couple of loaded 20 rounders in the corner and tipped my underware drawer over to dump some 30 rounders into a messy little pile. Now I feel better.

For what it's worth, I'm an expert on forums and I found this forum implementation to be very cumbersome to use and not intuitive at all.  I think most of what confuses people is the structure.  If you go to http://www.ar15.com/forums/b/3_AR_15.html there is nothing there to indicate the forums are for "Technical" discussions.  Its not until you read the stickie at the top of a particular forum that you understand the purpose of the forum.  That, and when you go to the General discussion area the forums appear to be topics all over the board.  I initially wrote that section off as something I wasn't interested in.  There is definitely a learning curve required.

What's the reason for having so many loaded mags?

General discussion is for general discussion. EVERYTHING else is a tech forum. And this is not the place for meta-discussion.

The only mags I have got in bulk were AR mags, never more than 10 at a time.Except when I went to the LGS and wanted 6 of the AK74 mags at $20 each, and they said "take the whole box at $10 a piece" then I bought 12 of the black Bulgarian AK74 mags you see in the AK74 mag photo, maybe 4 years ago.
I sold some mags off last month, what you see here is what's left...
AR mags:

More, with some M16/9mm mags too...

H&K MP5 Mags:

Then there's the UZI mags, .22, 9mm, 45:

Ruger 10/22

FAL/STG-58:

GSG-5 and GSG-522

AK47 and AK74:

Saiga-12:

I don't have any pics of the whole collection, but here's a pic of my "ready mag" shelf:

I didn't notice until I uploaded the picture, but there are 87 mags there........  All the USGI have Magpul followers and I have a bunch more PMags and USGI.  Got more Lancers too.  A sharp eye will spot the 1911 and Sig mags on the top of the pile.

I'm just a mag slut compared to some of you guys.

Thanks... rather than a lot of mags for one gun I have a few mags for each gun I shoot a lot. I wish I bought more but you can only afford so much, and so many for each gun. I really need to have more ammo, I have neglected that side of the equation. I have less than 40,000 rounds of ammo, not nearly enough.

I was 3 when the first AWB went through. Since it ended in 2004 I've been buying lots of mags. Just because we are young doesn't mean we can't study/learn from history. I'm not trying to be a tool but I think anyone who lived through the 2008 rush has an idea of what its like to not be able to get anything. When I buy a new gun I start buying parts/mags because you never know when you won't be able to get them ever again. The second thing I learned was to always buy parts that are high quality. KCI glock mags might be avaliable abd work for a while but factory glock mags are way better. Don't every buy knockoffs of the real deal.

This is some of my Garand clips and -03 clips.

One of the cartridge belts is an original WWII the other is from the 60's.

I know I am a little light my pile but I gifted about 300 Garand clips this past Christmas. I am sure by the end of the year I will be back in the 4-500 range as they seem to breed like Tribbles.

As for the 03 clips. I have about 2-300 of them both Brass and Steel. Some have one or both tabs busted off. But their still useful as long as you know what your doing.

Oh yeah those Damn cardboard covers are worth a few bucks now. But when their stacked like cord wood its time to get rid of them. So they went with the clips.

I have plenty of mags for my handguns, but only 12, 30 round magpul PMAGs. For 2 ARs.  I'm such an idiot!!!!  Now it's too late.  The only place I've been about to find any is at Cheaper Than Dirt...for $99!?!?!?!?!?!?!   Oh well, at least I have a decent ammo stash.  Not nearly as much as some, but a good start.  I have 8000 rounds for my ARs (4000 rounds of XM193 and 4000 rounds of M855).  Plus most of my handguns are .45s and I have around 3500 rounds of .45, 6000 rounds of .22LR, plus a couple thousand rounds for each of my other calibers.

Well, as I got close to 20, I realized that I maybe didn't necessarily want to advertise the number of magazines I own, so after 20 I started with 1A. I will continue to do so, to keep others guessing, rather than be at the range with a mag with 143 on it and have people saying, "Holy crap do you really have 143 magazines?"

Should have changed colors - blue 1,2,3, etc.  Now they will think you have at least 26 + whatever non alphanumeric number is on a mag.  If they see 12a, 9b, and 15c, they will know you are replete with Pmags.

Not a bad idea, and not too late to do that. Thanks!

You guys make me feel like a noob I knew my girlfriend was wrong to tease me about how many I have.
Half are loaded, half are not. Like many, I'm waiting until after the craze to continue building my stock. $40-100 for a pmag is stupid. Chasing ammo is more important to me right now. However, I can't turn down mags if I find them at a good price. Unfortunately that doesn't happen right now.
