IN prototype larue mount

Notice this mount was made for me at my request to retain the  rear back up sight on the body of the mount unit
not by larue.

That's the battery powered RMR I assume?  Where do they have these, and the fiber for that matter, in stock?

\What do you think of the RSR, relative to other HUD type optics - EOtech, C-more?

Regarding the prootype - I hope LaRue will reduce the size of the top bar, bringing it closer to the top of the RSR optic.

I love the RMR  the only thing close is the T-1 aimpints

the rmr is so nice light and fluid it makes driving the gun even easier
I like hte extra room at the top or a little cushion in case it is dropped it has some protection and give so impact itsnt direct on the unit thought the unit it self is even tougher than  mount

Interesting optic and mount. Tagged for info for an upcoming built. Definitely interested in the LaRue Mount when available, if so.

Can you remove the shroud that covers the RMR?
Link Posted: 6/23/2009 1:44:02 AM EST
[#8]
Yes you can but you lose the  Buis .

again this mount is a build and not the factory one.

here is factory

First of all, that looks like a really good setup. Light, tough, and just enough. Secondly, I am curious as to how that is a custom mount? It looks exactly like this one from their sight, including the BUIS. Whats different about yours?

On the Trijicon website they have a Doctor to RMR plate that you can switch out to make Doctor mounts work with RMR's.  Is it possible that's a Doctor LaRue Iron Red Dot with a RMR converstion plate?

the mount had to be milled cut and machined for new holes for mounting  milled down for correct 1/3 profile due to RMR height being taller than burris

and the side hole opened to get to the adjustment  screw

This was my idea to run with and then send the item to mark to run with

there is no plate the burris fastfire was rmoved and the spacing was different
so new holes were drilled and tapped into the  Irondot mount and n machined down for correct height

Ok, makes sense.

Doesn't the first R in the RMR stand for Ruggedized?  If so, why the extra protective mount, I figured the RMR on its own is rugged enough?

If the mount is only for the backup sight on it, I have plenty of BUIS that would do a better job.  Just saying...

Ok as typical arcomers your way overthinking it

the whole point was to get a QD RTN to Zero mount NOW yes i can unsecure the shroud without worry the WHOLE POINT IS TO HAVE A QD MOUNT  THE REAR SIGHT  ON THE MOUNT ACTUALLY MAKES IT QUITE HANDY ON OTHER APPLICATIONS I HAVE USED IT ON  WERE I DIDNT HAVE BUIS  ON THE GUN IT NOW RESIDES
THE UNIT IS VERY RUGGED. THEN AGAIN I DONT PUT TAPE OR VELCRO ON MY CASE DEFLECTORS AND I SCRATCH MY GUNS TOO

just saying in general duffy not directed at you

Actually I didn't think it through, I overlooked the QD factor, yes I want QD!  And if a protective hood and BUIS come with it too, more protection and utility the better, I won't turn it down

Does the RMR have a on/off switch or does it use some sort of cover?
Link Posted: 6/28/2009 10:25:38 PM EST

Have you tried the fiber-optic RMR, or are you just parroting what someone on another site said about it sucking? In what way/situation did it suck?

the rmr of current has no on off or hood.
it has a 2 year userlife approx constanat on.

Yes i have  had the fiber optic RmR it still sucks  Ok let me be more clear

it work it worked well it tracked it held zero the wash out  with white light was still an issue for me
it was a mii reflex sight  in terms

RSF,

Sent you an IM - slightly off topic, with specific questions about the LED/battery version of the RMR for a handgun application. Thanks,

pink

Correct.

there is talk of unit that will have it in the future,

OF current the only time i have seen an issue is in very very dark low light /no light with very bright whitelight on light colored backgrounds

The RMR is just a hair too tall to cowitness with the low mount on an Ultimak...

Pardon if this is off topic/etc, and if this is a dumb question

why wouldn't it run on the ultimak?

It will work, it just won't co-witness.  No big deal unless you're set on that kind of thing.
