So ive pretty much settled on the casv for my hand gaurd needs (unless of course im swayed by one of the many fine board members in this thread  ) tomorrow is my birthday and this is my present to myself. Wondering if any of you have seen the casv for less than $180 that seems to be the lowest i can find it on google.

My other question is i have the dpms oracle with the smaller gas block i want to get a length that will go to the gas block or further i cant figure out which model in would need as there seems to be 3 or 4 models as well as updated models .  Any suggestions..?

Youll need the CASV-M to extend past the gas block.  What are you doing for sights?

I have yankee hill flip up irons for backups and a cheap 4x acog seems to be holding up so far.

the reason I ask is because

a. they might not fit behind the CASV cut for the rear
b. if you mount the rear behind the cut, on the receiver like you should... and then mount your front one on the top of the CASV they will be on the wrong planes.
c. If you get an extended CASV like you asked for you lose the option of mounting to the gas block
d. if you mount to the gas block (don't know if you know this or not) you need a front sight that is specifically made for gas block height

also.. the acog + the riser built into the casv might cause some cheekweld issues with getting the optic at the right level unless you have a low mount for it.

I see so going for the m length may not be reasonable, just eye balling it the irons i have may fit behind the cut but i see what youre saying.  The gas block is low profile so that would create another cost .. i really like the ability to mount secondary sites at the 45 degree angle i also like the look its very unique..

You could go with the CASV-EL, that one has a cut out for the gas block but it still extends past it...

Other "drop in" options would be Troy drop in (not free float)

Troy Charlie (freefloat)

Troy Delta (freefloat, modular version of Charlie)

Daniel Defense Omega (free float... but pricey)

If you dremel off the delta ring you open yourself up to other options as well.

I like that DD its nice too, so is $180 a good price for the Casv el?  I wanted to check before I pulled the trigger - heres what I have found:

Looks like a decent price, when I got mine it was $140 as a special dealer buy that I just happened to walk into, limited quantities and only for a short period.  They occasionally pop up on the EE for a decent price as well, but $180 is a solid price.
