Whenever I'm home my EDC is a Smith 442 Pro in the pocket. If going into a higher threat area then a full size auto strong side.

A snub chambered in .32 H&R is not much of a question in the age of .327, except to ask S&W "Why won't you let us have the good stuff?" For me this was a major factor in deciding to purchase a .327 LCR over a J frame. |

I ended up choosing a Kimber K6XS to standardize on .38special, but the LCR looks cool I wish they made a 3in 327LCRx like they do for the 357, 38, and .22s! |

Flame cutting, and materials of the frame etc while trying to keep the cost down. Steel or Scandium would be necessary due to the pressures involved and put it at the 340/340PD price point. By using .32, it kept it at the 442/642 prices. |

According to their website videos and photos, I believe that Aholster requires that using their products for the Smith and Wesson 340PD you first need to cover the gun with Blue Painters Masking Tape in order for it to function properly. I'm not sure it this applies for other firearm models.  Their holsters, notably the Backbone must tear the $hit out the finish of the 340PD.

On my 637 the 'retention' is almost nil, I like it for being super-slim though and makes drawing from the pocket a breeze... His pics/vids are from him beta-testing, but I get what you mean

I carry a 642 and a 640 (not together) frequently.
Love them both. It's about same size as my Nano. I can get first shot on target faster with these than any of my semi autos.   |

When I carry a J frame, it is a 642 with 135 grain +P. I carry it in a pocket holster. It is practically the same gun, load, and carry method as the OIS used in the above video. I train with it. I have an idea of what I can and can't do with it.
A J Frame is as large as I would go in a pocket gun. 38 Spec is the largest caliber I would use. 357 in a snub is more than I want to handle. I have tried pocket carrying micro 9s. Even though my Gen 1 Shield is effectively the same size, a J Frame carries and draws better from the pocket. That OIS video has me thinking about some things. As a "Get off me gun", the 642 did exactly what it was intended to do. I assume the suspect was drugged up. Suspect took 3 rounds at close range. From the footage, at least two hits were in lung cavities. The suspect was still able flee 25+ yards after being shot. When he went down, it was because he tripped up. He still had fight in him when the cuffs went on. What if the suspect hadn't fled? Would a different gun or caliber have made a difference? Probably not. Mindset is why the officer won the fight. The 642 only increased his odds. |
