What's the deal with that MP7?

NSW or MARSOC or...?

That's an MP7A2

Looks like NSW to me. I found it without a caption.

I owned one Glock previously (it was a gift from a friend) but hardly ever shot it.

The DoD hired me as a contract physician/surgeon and the 7th group comprised a cohort of people I treated.

They taught me quite a bit about weapons, and it seemed like 99% of them swore by the Glock (either 17 or 19). Now it's my primary sidearm. Their argument was that it always goes "bang". That's it. Never heard one comment about ergonomics, accuracy, etc. It's just a highly reliable pistol.

I like how they think.

The pistol in front is a HK45CT with a TiRANT-45s (the Mk24 package).  I believe it is a P226 behind with possibly another TiRANT (due to the tube design and what I can see of the end caps).  However, the TiRANT-9s is an inch and a half shorter than the 45s and that can looks longer.  I’d guess it’s a regular TiRANT-9.  I’ve got all three models but I’m just SWAG-ing off what I can see in the pic.

I was going to reply on this subject, but finished reading down the thread like a smart guy would before sticking his foot in his mouth.

I will add, I've seed both too, but not downrange. Shot a few competitions with some CIF guys near Ft Benning that had 35s with conversions. That's what prompted me to go get one of the plentiful used trade-in 22s and convert it. Running a LW barrel in like a champ.

Guys responding to this thread that are former/current service members - thank you for your sacrifice and service. We all appreciate it.

The SF guys I've worked with on this deployment had the Glock 19 MOS, some had Surefire X300Us and the only one I saw using an optic on it was running a Doctor. Most all had Safariland 6354DO holsters.

A lot of incorrect information on this thread.

to back up what Augee mentioned, the only reason SF got the Glock 19 and I mean only reason.. was to fulfill a requirements for a concealed pistol.. that is the reason why they do not have the G17. The Army said SF already had a full size pistol the M9.
(How do I know.).. I worked with one the guys that helped write the requirement for the G19.
And in a previous life was this at RG37...

Would many SF guys prefer a full size G17? You bet. That is why you see many run flared extended mag wells and full size Glock 17 mags in their G19s.
That is why team guys in SF get both G19 and a M9. Of course SF guys carry the G19 for everything.
I literally think I was the last SF guy to not mind carrying a M9. I retired early 2017 so M9s time is truly finished!!!

It was adopted by the rest of Socom just because it was a pistol already in the system...
and they would not have to waste time holding new trials for another gun. Since it was already approved for SF.

It was announced back in 2015 by SOCOM that all future G19 purchases would have the MOS cut.
First issued MOS cut G19 I saw used early 2016 by a SF guy...My Son in Ranger Regiment got issued one around that same time.

Also officially SF guys cannot carry any gun they want it is not allowed ..do they.. I won't confirm or deny.

Question now is; since Sig adopted by the Army to replace M9 will  Army SF guys get that also?
(It wont replace G19 it will be a addition)
If they do I bet some will give the Sig a try.

Also CD is correct there are various other Glocks in service with Socom but they are limited quantities not available to all members... Only the G19 is

I only own one Glock. G19/4 FXS with Ameriglo N/S. I am curious though if SF will ever be issued the G19X or is that even a legit question?
Flame away, I am a Glock newb.

I'm sorry to coming to this very established thread cool, but given the adoption of the Sig by a few of these services, do you think the seals will go that way as well?

From a logistics standpoint, they can replace the mk26 and 27 with the 230 system.

I'm not a 230 hater, but I'd like to think that the Glock was adopted for its reliability and they will hang on to it.

If Navy adopts Sig I assume Seals will have access to it.
The way it generally works SOF units get base branch issue. SOCOM issues on top of that. So Glocks stay on teams. At least in the Army thats how it works.. SF teams get issued everything a Infantry Company gets (for 12 dudes).. Then on top of that all SOPMOD / SOCOM issue.

Every SF team has boxes of crap (Weirdo optics and lasers) Issued by regular Army that never get used.

SOCOM won't adopt the M17/M18 and replace the Glocks until they prove themselves in the long run.  Will SOCOM use the new SIGs?  Yes, as Stukas87 stated when mother Army replaces the Groups M9s for M17, they'll be there.  I'm another fan of the M9 just don't have the option of drawing on out.

Is the Trijicon RMR actually used on Glocks overseas? Its obviously the optic of choice in lots of member’s pics but im not sure ive seen one in a picture of a “deployed” Glock?

Is this because its just easier to pick up a replacement Docter Optic if one fails sonce they’re in the system?

To re ask a question from above, any groups using or plan to use the 19X?

seems the 19X would be the perfect gun for SOCOM, even in a world of Sig.

I have never handled or shot a 19X, so all I know about them is what I have read online. What aspects of the 19X would make it perfect for SOCOM, above the current handgun choices SOCOM users have?

If I was a betting man, I'd guess the Navy will roll with M9s until the Sun supernovas, or the aviators whine they need G19s because they saw a long tabber carrying one, which ever comes first.

For most Navy pogues, we'll have whatever M9s stay in the system for a long, long time.

They have some approved ball ammo that was purchased by the Coast Guard. The approval process to get ammo on the military approved list cost about $5-7 million. The Coast Guard did some of the work to get a .40 round approved. It is in the system on a small scale.
