Had a demo today with HK. Supposedly in 2012 HK will be releasing a striker fired economy priced handgun based loosely on the P30 (and uses P30 magazines). MSRP is in the $600s. No other info at this time. The demo was personal for me and was provided by an actual HK sales manager, not some dipshit gunshop commando. I'm kinda excited.

Here's a few toys I played with.

I might do it again in February.  If I do it will probably be at the outdoor range you might have already gone to with your department (owned by the dept to your north).  If I do I'll drop you a line.

I humbly disagree with those who eagerly await the striker-fired version. I know I am in the minority (and therefore possibly wrong or abnormal), but I shoot only HK and Beretta's because of the SA/DA choice that a gun with a hammer and a decocker affords you. You can carry it around with a chambered round and safety-off (or safety removed) secure in the knowledge that it takes a significant trigger pull to fire it. Safe gun handling is still paramount, but it makes it slightly harder to have an accidental discharge. Plus, while I know of several people (both first-hand and via hear-say) who have shot themselves drawing a pistol (not all from serpas mind you), they have ALL been glocks, cocked and (not)locked 1911's, and miscellaneous striker-fired pistols. A de-cocked Beretta or HK in my waistband? Not desireable, but OK as long as it's on the hip so it isn't pointing at my junk or my leg. A striker-fired pistol in my waistband? No way, I'd get shot before I made it out the front door.

also, for those who have difficulty with the first trigger pull on a decocked SA/DA, I have similar difficulty with striker-fired pistols. The only difference between us us what you are used to.
