http://i28.tinypic.com/11r3imo.jpg I just picked up one of those myself. It's kind of a convoluted story, but I guess you can say that I took it in partial trade for a .50AE Desert Eagle. |

It works pretty well, although I imagine it makes a bigger difference on the .50AE. I mainly got it because is looks sweet! If I had to say it probably drops recoil around 20-25%, my Ruger GP-100 kicks a lot more with .357 than the Desert Eagle does in .44. They're still available as far as I know. You can get one installed from Magnum Research's website.

You can get one installed from Magnum Research's website. I have basically the exact same gun as that and will admit that it looks badass and is part of the reason I'm interested in it. I also like how it is basically a ported abrrel with no loss of velocity since it is an extension. HOw long did Magnum Research have it? I wish they did them on Mark VIIs, I'd send that in for sure. |

Actually they did make one for the mk vii, but I'm told the mk xix was designed at the same time so it never went to production. Luckily I just happen to have one of the very few that were made for the mk vii. Gunna have it installed this month when I get it refinished. I'll post pics later :) |

I have the mags and order the .357 barrel, now just in search of a .357 bolt assembly. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b45/MustangSteveGT/IMG_0052-1.jpg Try numrich gun parts (gunpartscorp.com). Try numrich gun parts (gunpartscorp.com). They may have what you are looking for Thanks. I picked up the .357 barrel from there. (hope its the newer one for the Mark XIX). They're sold out of the .357 bolts, so I might have to order that from the Magnum Research website because that is the only place I've been able to find one. |

(go easy on the cell phone pics, it's all I got atm) this was her the day I dropped her off at the smiths. mk vii desert eagle 44 magnum- http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de1b.jpg and here she is today in her sexy satin black kg guncoat finish and original factory mk vii muzzle brake. http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de2b.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de3b.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de4b.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de5b.jpg and a pic of the sweet 44 magnum 10 round extended mags I picked up the other day for 35 a piece http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de6b.jpg double tap http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/BisonWorld/de/de7b.jpg Nice..........very nice. How on earth did you get your hands on that MK VII muzzle brake? How smooth is the action with the refinish? I've thought about refinishing my phosphated MK VII in cerakote but always wonder if the additional .001" would cause issues like I've seen from guys that cerakote other autos. I'm suprised you even found someone willing to work on a Desert Eagle, I'm sure most smiths are completely unfamiliar with them. |

I'm suprised you even found someone willing to work on a Desert Eagle, I'm sure most smiths are completely unfamiliar with them. I had a friend that worked for magnum research in 90's that was in product development who helped make a few before the product was scrapped due to the release of the mk xix model which wouldn't be able to accept the muzzle brake made for the mk I/vii due to the change in barrel dimensions. he kept a couple and I was able to buy one off him. as for the action after the refinish with kg gun kote, it has vastly improved cleaning and cycling the action feels much smoother now in my opinion, though I can't say whether or not that is because of the finish or because I had them do quite a bit a polishing work as well. at first I contacted magnum research to see if they would do the installation but they said they would not (seems like khar is full of assholes or something). anyhow though I found a few local gunsmiths that specialize in custom work and they were willing to give it a shot and did a great job. |

Must have! they were discountinued basically you just have to search ebay, gunbroker, and EE's on gun boards if you want to find any. unfortunately people also usually gouge the price, most of the time I see them go for 100+ a piece which is why I jumped on the ones I found for 35, so far they run flawless, but I did replace the plastic floorplate they come with with a metal floorplate from the standard factory mags since I typically keep all my mags loaded for all my guns and didn't really trust the plastic floorplates that came with them. |
