I am getting tired of polymer pistols.  I really want another .45 ACP, and this one caught my eye when I was browsing Gun Digest's Big Fat Book of the .45 ACP.

before you drop your $$, try to fondle/shoot one so you know what youre getting into.

they arent small guns and some people dont like the size and weight.  depending on your hand, you may have issues with the trigger reach.

btw, if you cant find a CZ, look for a large frame witness since imo they are similar.

i like mine, but even tho the grip isnt as good as the 75s.

Thanks for the tip.  I will try and find one locally, but I am not terribly hopeful.  I can handle my friend's Desert Eagle .50 without issues, but my early H&K USP-40 had the trigger set too far forward for me.

When you see beyond tupperware handguns.... John Moses Browning's 1911/1911A1 is the answer.

I wanted one until I realized they only hold 10 rds. Not so hot these days.

I have a EAA Witness in .45. Close copy of the 97B. Can't say anything bad about it. Function is perfect. Great value for the money. It is a bit large for my hands and too big to CC. But that is my own issues not issues with the pistol. It'd make a great house gun or duty pistol or open carry weapon. Reliable and accurate.

But If I want to carry a .45, I go for my 1911 or XD45c first.

I tried to find a 97B and couldn't find anything locally except for the EAA version. But even the EAA version is a fine pistol for the money.

I picked up a used one for $400 off of the CZforum about a year ago. It's as big as a horse with a limited range of holsters available, so it's not ideal for CCW. But as a range/home weapon it's damn fine. Whilst it lacks the nice SA trigger of a 1911, it's not bad and, out to 15yrds, mine is as 1 raggy hole accurate as my 1911's.

Here's my 97B, with CZ Custom sights, and 97BD rubber grips, to help convince you

:

I'd wanted a 97B for about ten years, and finally broke down and bought it this year.  I love it.   Yes, it's large, heavy, and not the ideal carry piece; but it's also extremely accurate, and soft shooting.  They can be hard to come by, but I had mine within two days from my FFL.  The 97B has become my favorite pistol, by far. It's a blast to shoot, and it's built like a brick shithouse.

As long as you are GTG with only using FMJ ammo get it.

I had one, great shooter, would not feed hollow points, any hollow points, at all, ever.  Even after a trip to CZ to have the issue "fixed".

Ergos were great even for my smallish hands, and like everyone will tell you, they are fantastic shooters.

If it had fed even one brand of hollow points reliably I would have kept it.

mine feeds hollows just fine. The first mag or two I loaded did NOT however, but once the feed ramp broke in (one or two mags) it's flawless now.

I love my 97B

My experience as well.  Feeds anything I can stuff in it.  Right now, it's loaded with Winchester hollow points, but it also feeds Gold Dots, no problem.

I weep when I read about 97s that work correctly.
