Don't know if this ? has been asked before but can we start a list of hand guns rated for +P ammo?

S&W M&P, and CZ 75 po7 Duty are my two 9mm's that are +p rated.... I know there are tons of other +p rated guns but those are just the two 9mm's that I own that are +p rated.

There is the belief that any gun +p rated for a few round hahah

Glock 17 is rated for 9mm +p+ (NATO 124 Submachine gun ammo)

That stuff is HOT!!

The Glock will eat it all day, spit out that lead and piss back the brass!

This. Just be aware, although they can handle it, it will accelerate wear. Maybe not by much, but it will.

Is the ammo labeled "NATO" 9mm the "hot" stuff? I've been wanting to try some in my G19.

Sounds interesting, I would love to see the specs on the ballistics vs non +p.

most of the NATO 9mm (for example winchester Gov issue ball.) is just into the plus p range. Having chrongraphed it out of mil issue berettas it ran 1280FPS.
sub gun ammo (like the uzi/imi black tip) is hotter and usually not for handgun use. It would be an easier list to list the modern guns not rated for +p like diamondback and kimber solo. I'd say any gun made after 1970 is a pretty safe bet. any WW 2 surplus handgun should probably not be shot with +p.

Being as the owner of diamondback supports obama thats not a problem for me as I will never own one.

My Beretta PX4 manual mentioned P+ was ok but might cause premature wear issues.

Kel Tec PF9 manual I think says "not recommended" IIRCC.  Though, considering the smack regular 9MM does to the hand I don't think I'd want to shoot P+ in it for fear of flinching.

I don't care who Diamondback supports.

Those guns are pieces of shit, so I'll never own one.

Most all modern handguns will shoot +P just find.

Obviously, it will simply accelerate wear.   Which is fine.  I don't think there is any cheap, FMJ plinking/practice ammo out there that even meets standard pressure specs.  The only time this would come into play is if you somehow got your hands on a stash of imported sub-gun ammo, or were an insane hand loader.  I'd go broke trying to shoot my +P carry loads with any regularity.

its alot shorter list of guns that couldnt handle it.

To the OP. Get a couple guns in mind that your looking at and list them. Its time consuming and most unnecessary to try and list every 9mm that could fire +p, which is a hell of alot.

9mm NATO handgun ammo isn't that high of pressure - 36,500 psi
SAAMI rates 9mm +P at 38,500 psi

Most 9mm's can shoot +p. I would be careful with older Browning Hi Power, Walther P38, etc.

HK USP's,  if I remember correctly, used to be rated for +p+ ammo, then they removed that from the manual.

Any quality handgun will fire +P ammo all day long.  It's really no big deal.

When  I started shooting in the mid-70's 9mm range ammo was very hot compared to the weak loads today.

For example, a standard range load was 124 gr. fmj at 1200 fps IIRC.  Today it's about 1120 fps. for the same round.

OP google "9mm Major"

Look at the guns using it (hint, 75s & Glocks, plus custom 2011s).  Those will be the strongest.

Not so strong:  P-38/M-9, BHP, etc.

Not many manufactures are going to go ahead an say "go ahead, feed it +P+" considering that +P+ isn't actually technically defined where +P is defined.

Guns that I would not hesitate to use +P+ in would be:

HK USP
Older Sigs (changing the roll pin on the breach block in 1/4 the typical required rounds)

And I don't think he was calling NATO 9mm ball +P+.  I think he was saying that 9mm subgun ammo was.  There is a difference between the 9mm they shoot out of the m9, and the 9mm that they run through subguns.

I've seen both, and the subgun ammo is rated +P+ according to the box.
