Very nice man.

So I finally got mine out last night and ran 200 rounds through it before the RO booted me because it was closing time.  I am extremely happy.  I have never fired a more accurate handgun.  It totally out shoots me.  I had a tough time getting back into the single stage 1911 trigger so i was pulling a lot of shots.  Like i said though, I've never fired a better pistol.  I had a grin the whole time i was fireing.  I had the RO's drooling over it.  I am very f***ing happy right now

They make a very limited batch about 1x a year. Most go to California. You can likely find them on Gunbroker sometimes.

Or, order a Custom Shop version - it will be the quality of a Springfield Professional. But, it's close to $3k.

Wow, of all places.

1911 forum.com operator pic thread link

After looking through page 1 i have no problem saying.....i could kiss you right now for that link

I have always wanted a champion lightweight operator w/ a threaded barrel and duracoated tan.  Them operators are HOT!  Due to getting into ipsc type shoots i ended up w/ a doublestack 1911 w/ a rail (sti tactical) but i still want an operator.  Its almost like owning an operator is for a select few.  Ill be one one day!

Some really sweet iron in here! Love and a .45 what more can a man ask? My humble addition, updates to come after the holidays when I'm back home.

My TRP Operator just arrived back from a trip to John Harrison's shop. The bulk of the work completed was done to correct poor work done by another smith or fix deficiencies from the factory.

Here's a few pics of the gun (not the greatest I know)

My TRP came from the factory with an unbeveled mag well and the "Springfield" mag funnel. I had the frame beveled and a used S&A magwell (w/ arched MSH) installed.

I also had the front of the magwell beveled to remove the "teeth" that seem to constantly bite me during reloads.*

And yes; I actually use my TRP

Work included:

Trigger job
Fixing damaged sear
Fixing over travel screw on trigger
Replacing 10-8 mag release w/ Harrison extended version
Replaced firing pin stop
Pinned extractor
Reliability package

.....and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting

It looks like you swapped out the bull barrel for a bushing eh?  Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?  Im in Hawaii on vacation and its the first night im able to sit down quietly before bed without crashing the moment my head hits the pillow.

What barrel/bushing set up did you go with and who set it up for you?  Id like to do that eventually, easier maintenance would be great.  But that bull barrel shoots like one mean SOB

The bull barrel was one of the first things I replaced when I got the pistol. I had a Kart EZ-Fit barrel installed. Unfortunately, it was installed as well as it should have so I have a few fit issues with it but nothing that effects accuracy or reliability. I am looking at decreased life of the barrel, but I plan to have a new barrel installed in it in 2013 so it isnt an issue for me.

NCPatrolAR how come you replaced the 10-8 mag release, any problems or just wanted something new?

It felt extremely gritty; as if the release was full of sand. IIRC John said it had a number of machine marks inside the catch that were causing the grittiness. I also didnt care for the angled head of the release.

Bump.  This thread needs more Champion Operators!

I'm drooling over them, and can't wait to be able to afford one come tax time.

How did you get a $1175.00-$1250.00 for $725.00 new?  Are you sure it is new and not like new and is used?
