I literally like every feature about this 1911... A very rare sight to see from where I sit! Good job...

These are my two latest... Both are Springfield Champion Operators... The first pictured is the Bob'd one... I might have previously posted this semi-long ago but... Here goes. I purchased this from an elderly guy that needed the cash and I gave him the asking because of his plight. The work performed was by Springfield's Custom Shop(back when such was an operating shop,) they performed the Bob-Tail cut, grips, stippling, and refinish as it came with the paperwork. Trigger is really, really crisp and short so I suspect a trigger job was performed too. Looked to be un-fired outside the factory. I fixed that in short order though, ... She rides in an M-Tac "Minotaur" hybrid holster well and is a favorite in the rotation!

Here is my other Springfield Champion Operator, standard frame... This is the dedicated Home Defense 1911 for upstairs/night duty. The TLR's laser is dialed in just right and very point n' click... It's reassuring and easy to pick up. It's ease of on/off with paddle is another favorite feature of the TLR. These come with nice triggers but the one above is crisper, smoother, and lighter leading to my original thoughts of having a custom or semi-custom trigger. But both are pretty great. Either way, Sad Springfield isn't making these anymore to my knowledge. They always sold well so I don't understand that move. But I got my pair so I'll just smile, enjoy, shoot them and be happy.

...but with two kids in college and another starting in a year it'll be a while before I can afford the real deal so I decided to make my own out of my Tisas Tank Commander.

I bobbed the hammer/grip safety and contoured the thumb safety so it's more comfortable...then blued all of the small parts. I also installed a heavier mainspring.

Man, that's beautiful. I'm a sucker for bobbed hammers! I've been considering getting a Tisas Raider or Duty and doing a .45 Super conversion. So I may steal this idea and do similar mods.

Here's my submission, the closest thing to a 1911 I've owned thus far. FB Radom VIS 35.

Nice.  Thank you for the details.

Is the front strap checkered?  I can’t see the previous owner serrating the slide and not checkering the front strap.

Either way Pachmayr grips look great on the old school two tone 1911’s.

I've had many 1911's come and go, never really got attached to any of them. I've always wanted a true officer's in steel tho. I found this little RIA at a local gun shop and it was cheap enough to roll the dice. I've always liked Colt's undercut, and have a bit of a fondness for ODG frames so I figured, what the hell.... it's chep... how bad can I fck it up?
I undercut the trigger guard myself and had a local shop ceracoat it for me. I've put about 1k trouble free rounds through it so far.

Let us know what you think about these. I'm curious between this and the double stack version if it's not a pretty decent range toy for the price. Optics and threaded barrel is always fun.

I've run ~500rds through it now, I'm happy with it

Trigger is my only complaint - more play than I'd like
Will swap in EGW parts to lighten & tighten

Other controls are good, no play, and positive clicks on the safety
Slide-frame fit is tight - have to see if it loosens up as cerakote wears

Irons are good and dead-on out of the box, setup the dot to co-witness
It's heavy and mine's in blasphemous 9mm and so there's minimal recoi

Have run a mix of my 115gr-165gr reloads as well as 124 & 147 HST
A couple FTFs with my slowest 147 loads, everything else cycled fine
No feeding issues using factory, cmc, or wilson mags

Now if the AFT would just approve my can that'd be great, can't wait to suppress this thing
