I wish Scalarworks or Midwest still made their Mossberg 590 Micro red dot mounts because I really want to put one of the nicer Holosun red dots on my shockwave SBS.

@Pneumagger

Yep, same site I found, bought the D4 yesterday.

Now to wait for a fucking year while ATF decides if someone who already has like 30 stamps is safe to own another one. In the meantime I may send the barrel out for a choke tube install, cause why not?

Definitely top 5 favorite shotty in this pic thread! Nice job and I love that finish and wood furniture color contrast too. I run my Ithaca M37 and Mossy 500 (both 7+1) capacity with OEM wood stocks and forends. The wood seems to balance better for me and they look 3 times sexier than polymer to me. YMMV...

It's a Tacstar adapter.  They are pretty heavy, but they are inexpensive and have a quick detach sling swivel.  If weight is an issue, Ergo makes a plastic one that is lightweight, but no QD attachment point nor does it look as pleasing to the eye.

I had to hollow one out ever so slightly, but to fit a Chinese made (Civet-12) shotgun.  I have a Remington 870 Tac-14 DM inbound to me, so I will definitely be getting another and hopefully it fits without any work.

What is that stock finish, and what was the gun originally?  Is it a Stoeger?

Waiting on stamp to finish a 1100 Special. Hopefully will get to post pics soon. Here’s what she’s starting as.

Attachment Attached File

Going 12” for 33” total. Trying to decide for sure on the screw in chokes depending on how recoil is with slugs I may shorten just enough to throw a decelerator pad on but being auto she’ll soak up quite a bit. Going to add a VC +1 and big button safety. Got a 26” VR barrel so the 21 will stay uncut. Luckily the 12” mark is the same rib the mid bead is so just going to run it for now. Got to add a sling swivel on the rear. Should be similar to this when done.

Any concerns about enlarging gas ports, etc?
I have one I’m thinking about stamping as well. VR barrel with a Cutts comp begging to be cut down. The “toe” of the butt stock is chipped about am inch from the pad, which suggests to me cutting a couple of inches there as well. Could be a nice compact package when done.

Ports may need enlarged but from my research the majority of all barrels ran the same diameter regardless of length so while I may have to I may not. That said it’s an extremely easy job if it needs it just work in extremely small increments. Mines 2 3/4 only so I don’t really have to tune for the wide range the magnum guns needed. I figured with removable tubes I could run Cylinder with slugs or flite control or swap to a mod/full of I wanted to run bird shot for something.

The English stock really catches the eye I always preferred them but hard to find them on autos Remington discontinued them after a rather short time span of only about ten years or so during which they weren’t exactly common. Trying to find one in a 20 to go with the 12.

I wanted to do a old 11 whip-it gun but the 1100 fell in so it got it first. After I decided on the project I discovered that photo online of exactly what I had planned. Waiting game on the paperwork at this point. Instead of two days for my prints to get there it took seven this time.

Also if shortening the stock perfect time to fit it properly shorten enough that once a pad is added it falls in where you want it. Most tend to run a touch long in my experience that is.

I went the other way around and started with an A5 before thinking about the 1100. I actually got interested in the whippet idea after seeing a really nice Model 11 for sale in the used rack at Cabellas. (And seeing examples here).

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic

Looks good heard 870/1100 extensions worked but required a spacer was that what you used? If I could find a barrel and magazine I’ve got access to a donor receiver.

Plus this:
https://nordiccomp.com/categories/mxt-plug-cap/

With 2 3/4 you can get +1 out of that plug cap. Also it has a QD socket in the end which let me use with a Magpul MS4 sling.

1100 was tested this morning she’s not quite finished have to do some finishing work still in progress. That said I tested it and runs great with everything from 2 3/4” light loads to slugs and buck. Keep in mind mind mine started as a 2 3/4 only gun a magnum may require more work.

After too long of a wait i finally was able to bring my Benelli M1 Super 90 Entry home yesterday. It came with a 14 inch barrel, pistol grip stock and ghost ring sights. The only thing I want to add is a limbsaver butt pad and qd sling attachments, other then that I am keeping her stock.

Anyone know of other competent shotgun smiths? I recently purchased a Benelli M4 Entry and I'm waiting on Form 4. However I see thatBenelli Defense overseas offers a Benelli M3 Entry (14") model that has me wanting. Reached out to Steve Rose based on many posts of his Benelli work, to query about chopping and sight placement on a factor 11608 to creat this yeti. His response:

~"The thinner midsection (after being cut) limits choke tube threading options and causes the front sight to be too low for regulation. For these reasons we do not offer shortening or sight installation services for longer the M3 or M4 barrels." ~

However, I'm  not looking to have threaded for chokes and would think sight height could be properly mitigated by taking measurements prior to chopping.
