Looks like a specter gear to me.  And yes, specter gear is awesome.

My first pump action, actually my first shotgun.

In mint condition, been with a collector and from the looks of it has barely been shot if at all.
Some small scratches in parkerizing from being stored it seems, but the bolt etc. seems to be mint.

870 Police Magnum, nothing fancy but I quite like the looks of the stock. My opinion might change after I get to shoot with the stock.

You're not going to shoot 150 rds of skeet with it in an afternoon that's for sure.  One or two tubes worth and that's enough.  Meant to be stowed and carried.

Here are my short shotguns-

HK imported Benelli M1- 19.5" barrel
Remington 870 Police- I bought this one new around 2000.  18" CYL barrel
Remington Model 31- made in 1946 I believe.  This was a field gun I got from Summit Gunbroker I believe, and sent to Rose Action Sports for a cut down to 20" and thread for Tru-Chokes.

Will do!

Wednesday will be range day.

Friday range day got derailed by my 94 year old dad face-planting and having to take him to the ER (he's fine).

My HD shotgun.  It's a NewHaven 600A...which is basically a fancier version of the Mossberg 500.
I've had this since the mid 80's.  I did some mechanical tradework for it, and it used to have nice wood furniture and about a 30" barrel on it.  I used it bird hunting for a year or so, then retired it from bird hunting for a Remington 1100, and then an 1187, and decided to make this into my HD shotgun.  I had the barrel chopped to 18.5", and it wore the original wood furniture for a few years.  Then I got the side-saddle, then a speedfeed stock (which I did not like...too long, and I'm 6'2"), and finally settled into this Hogue furniture set with a limbsaver pad on it.  It fits me perfect.   It has a Surefire clicky 3PX light on it.  I don't bird hunt much anymore but I do trap and skeet a lot still and most of the time the 1100 or 1187 go out, but every now and then I just take this out to wring it out a little at the trap range. There is definitely some muscle memory to remember when transitioning from the auto's to the pump I have found out, but practice does make perfect.

My father in law gave me this the other day to shoot at a 4H trap event with my kid. He said he probably hasn't shot it since he was 17 (he's 60 now) been in a bag in the back of a closet for decades.

Estimated manufacture date 1908 or 1909 based on serial number. Remington pre model 11.

I spent most of yesterday taking it apart and detail cleaning. Today it was test fired with 25 Winchester target/clay shells. It functioned perfectly after moving the friction rings around for the lighter loads.

@Dragoon_89

Another great John Moses Browning (Praised be his name) design.

Browning Auto 5 in the rest of the world.

Winchester tried to screw with Browning on his licensing fees, so JMB sold the design &rights in the USA to Remington.

I had a model 11 that I turned into a "Bonnie and Clyde" about ten years ago.  Paid 200 bucks for it and put a remington +2 tube extender, cut the bbl to match length, and put a new bead on it.  I traded it for something that I can't recall now, but regret it often.

I love these old guns. Now I just need to get good at shooting trap lol.

I'm on the fence about doing a full refinish on the wood and metal. I kind of like the patina, but it's got a new lease on life now that it's with me. Dark walnut Danish Oil and hot blue sounds like a fun project. Extended mag tube and shorter barrel is tempting as well.

It will. If you can make it through a tube or two of even reduced recoil buck I'd be impressed. Those things are fucking horrible.
