Just a heads up, varusteleka has a stock of surplus Benin Pendjari Park Rangers uniform and ballcaps. They are the cool woodland type ones with the black parts shaped like buffalo horns, Lion heads and antelope hooves.
Don't know about the quality, but like many african uniforms they are cut like old french Airborne uniforms, so a very practical cut (think eotac field or Woolrich Algerian).
Not terribly expensive at 70€ for the whole set.

Bump.

Also, just found a brick and mortar surplus store near me that's still in business which is rare these days. They have a lot of Tru Spec stuff. Are people still finding them to be a decent brand for the money or have they pulled the ubiquitous move of trading rep for momentary profit by tanking their quality?

Is it just me or does ATACs look like the camo worn by the Rebels on Endor in the movie "Return of the Jedi"?

Yup.  I think this might have been brought up when it came out.  ATACS I mean.

0241 tactical, that makes a living by reprinting weird and obscure camouflages and making into clothing for the civilian market is shipping preordered uniforms in what they call "marpat tigerstripe", a tiger pattern in marpat colors trying to mimick one of the experimental patterns tested for the adoption of the then new marpat camouflage.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CxEMcp0OS3V/

this is the original trial pattern on the right

i don't know how it will work. i know that in my area (italy, mediterranean hills/low mountains) the desert tiger stripe pattern (as well the desert DPM) works very well year round, due to the abundance of yellowish browns in both seasons

Also i discovered this austrian airsofter called Novritch, because i bought a mesh multicam boonie with his brand from a car boot sale (honest item BTW, well made). apparently he made his own camouflage whcih is a tiger stripe variant with black exchanged for brown, which makes it look faded, with extra bits of color added in. i think there are 12 colors, that is a lot, like many other commercial makers are doing.

How is the quality of 0241 Tactical?

Im thinking Id like to get some Multicam Tropic clothes since it seems like it would work pretty well in the spring/summer here in OH. Seems hard to find from many places

Is MCT being phased out?

I also like Marpat but same problem.

Currently I have a mix of MC, Ranger green and Marpat gear

Another duck hunter? As i said, they do that for a living. However Burkina Faso presidential guard has One with a Better colorway, chinese made, a sort of modernized F1 french cut.

To be honest i think Burkina Faso army uniform May be a working Camo for some southwest US areas.

Trying to find a decent plate carrier in woodland camo.  Could just do a ranger or od green with camo pouches.

I had a helluva time finding it too.

The two pieces I got were disappointing. Not the pattern, the fit. The hats are GTG, though.

The combat shirt I got is way too short in the torso - so short, I can't tuck it in. And the pants are so fucking baggy, it's not even funny. Summer, here in PA, the pattern is perfect, though - if you can find any (and it fits!).

ETA: Looks like there's a lot more available than when I tried to find it in Jan2023. That's good!

How is the quality and durability of the Novritsch pants and shirts?  Does the sizing run true?  Pros and Cons of the two shirts and pants; especially the pants being almost twice the cost of Combat vs. Field?

Very cool.  Always fun to see Tiger Stripe being used in the wild.  I just picked up a Helikon Tex Tiger Stripe combat shirt for use this spring.

Yes, earliest prototypes had those and you can see pockets definitely inspired by Flight suits.
All these features were quickly discarded.

More curious about the dudes to the right.  One is wearing MC tropic pants, and the guy in the back looks like he's wearing MC Alpine.  Odd mix.

The mis-match of odd clothing is so they don't mess up their regular uniforms on the jump.  (my guess, I thought it was a weird mix too)

Sometimes, careful "mis-matching" of terrain-appropriate camo pouches/gear/clothing is a "large-pattern" form of camo, and useful.

It may be a total lack in trust of the pilots ability to put them on a recognizable DZ.

I love this thread.  It always amazes me what new camo peeps can come up with.  On "Zoom bags" aka "flight suits", I always thought calling a pilot's suit a flight suit, was like calling a guy riding in a boat a swim suit.  Real flights suits, as used in MFF, used to be black, and then switched to a sky gray color.  I had one back in 97-98.  It was extra baggy so as to give you more drag therefore more stability, or so the story goes.  For some reason they fell out of use in the G-WOT.  Now everybody just jumps their cammies.  The comment about guys just jumping their old junk cammies is probably spot on.  Especially with trou running several hundred bucks a pop.  And we all know SF just loves to stick a thumb in the Sgt Maj's eye with their non-std uniform shit.  Me I'd find one of those old Limey jump suits, like they issued the Jeds jumping into France.

Speaking of which, we had a new Sgt Maj check in our unit and we were all going to "rejoin the Marine Corps".  So we used to just stroke into the mess hall for evening meals in whatever get up we happened to be in.  My bud and I had our UDT shorts, coral booties, and cammie tops on.  The guy manning the sign in table told us sorry we now had to be in "propper uniform of the day", whatever the fuck that was.  So we though OK, went back to our rooms and got into something more appropriate.  I wore a zoom bag, and my buddy put on his wet suit.  Well we stroke back in there, hear a few snickers, and the CO calls us aside, and say "Gentleman, I think you need to go back and get your cammies on".  So we're like "Aye Aye Sir", and go change.  I still had my "jungle belt" underneath my cammie shirt ha ha.

Agilite finally did a limited run of their K-Zero in M81.  Snagged one up.  Will need to offload my green one.  I'll say the K Zero is the most comfortable carrier so far.
