Correct, looks more like titanium. Looks good, but yeah, I may be slightly annoyed had that been mine. Then again, as an applicator, unless a customer explicitly picks the exact color from my samples, they often tell me "something like this", and that is something like Tungsten... Sort of...

I've been working on a custom mix of metallic browns.
Shades are OD green and black. Tinted with tan.

Lots of combinations.

Texas Tea didn't come out right. It's a dark brown color. The sky is reflecting making it look grey. I think I also had a bad batch because it was super thin (note the runs). This happened twice. At first I thought I didn't empty the acetone out of my cup completely. That was not the case.

I didn't spend much time on surface prep. I just needed something quick and fast to get the job done, so there are imperfections, but it gets me results.

I used to use the Dupli Color Engine Enamels a lot a few years ago. When my preferred colors stopped being stocked I moved on to Cerakote. I watched a youtube vid be Captain Berz and was inspired to try it again (Dupli Color Cast Coat Iron). I pinted my .308 build with it and felt very satisfied with the results (As expected), and decided to do my DDI AK the same way..

Here are a few pics.

I know I could get the same color with Cerakote, but I dont have ez access to an oven to cure it like I prefer, so I haven't used it in months. I am not claiming this to be a replacement, just an alternative.

*And pics have Manufacturer names of the products so the question is answered quickly and easily.

The Green stock on the Hog Hunter stood out like a sore thumb here in Texas so I decided to camo it using natural sponges and spray paint. Below are before and after pics.  I am now thinking about doing the same thing to a couple of my AR's.

Custom mix of greens for an OD green to match my dads 1944 Willys Jeep. The registration number on the Glock matches his Jeep as well.

Pre B CZ 85.  Before.  Parkerizing worn off it places, rust in/under the Parkerizing, grips pretty worn, etc.  Probably not bad for where it's been and how it was used/treated.

After.  New springs/pins/barrel/sights/grips and two tone cerakoted by Primary Machine.

This gun was okay, but I just couldn't get excited about the way it looked. Too much black, it was way boring.

Went downstairs this evening with a couple beers, 3 cans of Krylon, and a natural sponge and ended up with this. The factory buttpad got messed up- I'll order a new one and it'll be perfect.

It breaks up the outline and makes the gun much more appealing to me. I love this thing now. It looks different without being over the top. Now I'm motivated to go walk a few draws this fall!

So I took the fact that I got this old 870 for a good price and i've just been messing around with it. For a while now i've wanted to try out an "old type face" type look on a gun so I figured why not give this a try. It's not perfect but it proved to be a good test bed for future projects. I'm hoping it will look really nice as it wears . This was done with some krylon camo paint...some old black paint i had lying around and sharpie

p.s. sorry for the poor image quality on the 2nd photo

It seems the older I get the more I become a fan of Woodland camo, especially when it's well executed on a rifle. Nice paint job.

I had no clue there even was a Refinishing Forum. Very cool. I'm all about some paintwork on an AR. Here's my House of Kolor Passion Purple Pearl basecoat with Sherwin Williams matte clear build. I work in a body shop. I have lots of things this HoK color. Apparently I have a purple thing going on. F1 chassis.

I also painted the wings on the charging handle and the bolt catch to mimic the naked titanium parts on the lower. All remaining hardware on the gun replaced with stainless.

Adjusting knobs on the Luth-AR MBA-3 stock also painted naked titanium.

I color filled the custom engraving on the flash can.

General pics...

Does not. I don't see any difference in shooting this one and an AR with a regular receiver.

A mix of Krylon Ultra Flat Khaki and Olive and Rustoleum Ultra Flat Brown and mesh laundry bag for pattern. Pretty happy with how it turned out, looks to be a good four season color mix for southeastern VA. I just need to convince myself to stop being a little bitch and do it to one of my ARs instead of just an old BB gun that was laying around.

Here's my first attempt at camo rattle canning on my Ruger American Rimfire stock. I'm pretty happy with it.

Aervoe Earth Yellow base coat, stripes of OD, Field Drab, then some pine straw action (well... cut up broom bristles) with Earth Brown and Krylon Hunter Green.
