You guys make it hard not to break out the duracoat

Several years ago when I had more time and ACU was the hot thing, I bought an ACU Duracoat kit.  I figured I'd take a franken gun and try my hand with the Duracoat.
It took me a lot of time.  Now that the kids are old enough to be busy, I haven't been able to due a gun in Multicam like I'd really like.

Good job, did you disassemble the rifle first of just coat it. What finish did you use? I am thinking about doing my M4 also. Thanks DD58

I used a $4 orange mesh hunter's safety vest I found at Walmart. The laundry bag method works great too.

thanks

Good inspiration folks. I've just started my first camo job (rattle can Multicam) but I won't be able to post pics of that here due to it being a bolt gun. Once it's done though, I imagine the ARs aren't far behind.

Actually, I had planned on posting a thread on how the whole process went, when I'm done. I don't know how good it's going to turn out as far as looking just like Multicam but it's a learning process. I've been taking pics of each step and writing up notes at the end of each day. I've still got 4 more paint stages to go through which includes applying stencils and a final coat of matte clear. I'm guessing it's going to take me the month of June to get it done, working mostly on the weekends.

Rust O Leum camo system paint using "Army Green" (as a base) and "Deep Forest Green"(layered a bit on top).  Might repaint later with a tan base and then stripe with Army Green and Deep Forest Green.  Seems that is a better match to the terrain around here.

Not much to contrast in the confines of my backyard, but...

Looks like Ray hooked you up with one of the surplus Aimpoints that needed a little refinishing work.  Looks good.

I like this a lot. It's suttle and blends well. Good job.
