Been mostly the same up here but it didn't burn the grass since we've had like 99% humidity.

My 14.5” with a fresh rattle can coat... "perfectly imperfect" Brownell’s Aluma-hyde with Coyote as a base coat, then some Dark Parkerizing Gray and OD Green splatter.

One thing I’ve been paying attention to is that seldom is there a perfect camo pattern.  I’m in SE North Carolina and we have swamps, agricultural fields, hardwoods, pines, etc. what I do notice is that when the leaves fall in the winter, there are consistent colors that are also present during the green months. I also watch wildlife and they are blending in just fine with their browns, grays and tans. Of course, a brown whitetail standing in a green wheat field is going to stand out. However, I’ve settled on using that brown, gray, and sometimes a splash of subtle green will carry me through the changes of seasons and have the best overall results.

ETA. Copperheads have the best floor camo ever

How did you do the splatter?  That looks amazing.

First time spraying or even using stencils. Now with the finished product I see what I would have done differently with paint and stencil clustering.

Using stencils to produce a multicam look is kind of an artform, IMO. You did a great job with it. Looks great. But I know what you mean. There were a lot of things in my first attempt that I wasn't happy with. I kinda want to sandblast it down and do it again.

I like it!  I just stripped a rifle I had painted before and debating on what stencil pattern I want to try next and a 3 or 4 color version of multicam is one of that I'm thinking of.

This thread inspired me to paint my rifle a few years back. It's been all downhill and painting more rifles since. Figured I'd post what I've done.

Top dmr is rustoleum, sold the upper. Have a mk12-ish in the works and will try to re do this one.

Bolt guns are alumahyde. Top is gap stencils, bottom is sponge. Bergara I sold, but it was my first stencil attempt.

This rattle job brought to you by: Magnolia Homes - for when you just wanna vibe with Chip and Joanna Gaines

It's hard to tell now but there's 6 colors here.

  • Krylon Army Green (top side of rifle)

  • Krylon Dark Forest Green (side of rifle )

  • Krylon Olive Drab (underside of rifle)

  • Majic Earth Brown

  • Majic Desert Sand

  • Magnolia Homes Garden Trowel

Unfortunately the Garden Trowel I was hoping to be a bit more gray than what it came out to being ( Earth Brown, Desert Sand than Garden Trowel are on the stock for reference - any paint spatter is the Magnolia chalk paint as well )

Since chalk paint is designed to purposefully wear I've been half tempted to spray a rifle a solid color ( brown, fde/coyote or green ) and then cover the entirety of it in ~3 chalk paints, as they wear the under color reveals itself.

I was standing in my local hardware store looking at paints today and thinking this exact thing. I think you are on to something there.
