I just picked up a new (to me) rifle off of Gunbroker and wanted to show it off.

It is a Browning Low Wall 1881 with octagon barrel in .243 win.  I mounted a Zeiss Terra 4-12x42mm on it.  Super sweet, light, compact little rifle.  I love it!

Feel free to post your FROTD...

The "prettiest" FUDD rifle I ever owned was a .243, a SAKO Forester Deluxe with QD irons/scope mounts...

If it had been in .308, and if a guy hadn't offered me twice what I had in it and then some, I'd still have it today.

Nice score with the Browning.

It's deer season, here is my favorite deer rifle.  Tikka T3 in 6.5x55.

Not the best pic, but it's the fuddiest rifle I own. A Ruger No.3 with a custom 26" octaganal barrel in 45-70 with a weaver k2.5 scope.

Great thread.  I like the "Fudd" guns.  And I personally don't really like that term because sometimes people say it with such disdain.

A good .243 is hard to beat for a hunting gun.  My cousin has taken a lot of deer with his .243.  Then he tried to move up to a .300 RSUM because he thought it would help him be able to take longer shots.  But he couldn't get good accuracy with it.  I don't know if it was the gun or the extra recoil or what......  But I think he went back to his tried and true .243.  Which is a nice, older winchester.

I've always had a soft spot for Ruger #1's.  Especially Mannlicher ones.

This has been my preferred wide open spaces game getter for nearly 20 years now.  A Ruger M77 Mk II VT  in .308 with a composite stock that is much lighter than the original laminate stock:

This has been my preferred short range rifle for the last few years - an 1885 High Wall in .30-30.  Very accurate, it won't beat you to death and a .30-30 single shot with pointed bullets and a 30" barrel is good to about 300 yards on deer sized game:

I'm also partial to my Big Bore 94 in .375 Win and it's my preferred hills and woods carbine:

Finally, this is my Remington 788 in .243 - a great starter rifle for young hunters:

My circa 1959 Remington 725 in .280 Rem., with original Bausch and Lomb Balvar 5 scope.  Elevation and windage are in the base.

Only picture I could find in photobucket.  My Model 94 Winchester.

I also have a Remington 788 in .308 and a Remington 700 in 7-08.  Using the 700 this year, but its a little heavier and a little longer than I like.

Nice guns, but there is no such thing as a Fudd gun. Fudd is a state of mind ,and guns have no minds.

My long range Fudd.  Weatherby Mark V in .300 Weatherby Magnum.  Weaver V-12 scope. West German J.P Sauer and Sohn made Mark V action for Weatherby, circa 1967 or so.

Thank you, sir!  I thought Fudd around here was anything that was not military, civilian version of military, or tacticool.  I still like nice wood and bluing.

Fudd is hillbilly shit, not art. I've always wanted a high wall or a low wall but they are way out of my budget

So this would be more FUDD then? Hand made custom stock with spare 5 round mag holder in the butt and custom made, (and flawlessly functional), 10 round magazine? Can't call it Bubba, because the gunsmith that did the work is a very talented gunsmith.

Maybe a little more Fudd-ish.  One of my deep woods deer guns:  Remington 742 in .308 with original period-correct 2-7x Redfield scope.  When deer are running and a quick second shot may be needed.

It's hunting accurate - about 2 MOA with decent ammo.  It's one of several 742's I have.  The others are in '06 and .280 Remington.  All about 2 MOA.
