Specifically asking about .223 but would love to see pics of any caliber TC Encore's with a suppressor on them.

I looked through all 60 pages of the suppressed rifle thread and only found one stainless rifle.

If you have a suppressed .223 TC, was it quieter than a suppressed AR?

Redtazdog has posted pics of an integral of his.  And yes, no action noise will be quieter but 223 isn't quiet.

Barrel is a 18" 10 twist full bull, chambered in 308 Win. w/prohunter frame and bullberry stock set. Stratton Custom added the hanger bar for the hand guard, and MGM contoured the barrel to accomodate the OPS INC. 3rd model suppressor. Scope is a SN3 1.8-10 x 37.  Everything turned out real nice.

Are other similar sized calibers quieter?  Like .204 Ruger or .22-250?  Anything center fire that is smaller than .223.

That looks awesome.  Do you shoot only subsonics out of it?

All of these are quieter than any of my 223 AR's with any of my top name brand cans.
Even with full power ammo all of the TC's are quiter as there is no action noise.

Thank you. Yes she gets a pretty steady diet of subsonic, but I also shoot good ole 308 too.

Supersonics are just plain loud. You can take the edge off with a can, but it's still going to be loud.

The Tc,s and bolt actions are much quieter than
any auto as there is no ejection port noise at your ear.
But yes copared to sub ammo the supersonic ammo
is loud even with 22 lr.

Is .22-250 any different than .223 through the same suppressor?

I have a YHM 5.56 QD can on the way, kind of regretting it and wish I would have done a little more research.  Should have gone with 7.62.

Hey Redtazdog, How do your 300 whisper, 357, & 44 compare sound-wise shooting subsonics?  Thats a beautiful collection you have there.

Your good. Ideal set up is a 556 can you can dump ammo through and a light weight 762 can you run on your 308 guns you don't shoot as fast.

Those three calibers with subsonic ammo are some of the quietest and its sorta hard to tell wich one is the most quiet.
They are all much quieter than a 300 whisper/blackout AR and 223 AR

On the TC's I realy cant hear any difference between the 223 and 22-250 using the same can but then the 223 barrel is 16"
and the 22-250 is 24"  , I bet if the 22-250 barrel was 16" it would then be louder.
If you leave the barrel long enough the 223 can should work fine on a 22-250 as with the longer barrel
the pressure is reduced down before it gets to the can, I would still check with YHM and explain how long of a 22-250 barrel the can would be used on
first just to see what they would say.

Contenders here, not Encores. But until you get into the heavy-recoiling calibers you don't really need the heavier frame.

As noted by others, the single-shot is noticeably quieter than a semi auto, when using the same ammo, can, etc. While a supersonic round is still going to have that loud sonic crack, you no longer have the ejection port and action noise. The sonic crack does not start until the bullet is 10 or 15 feet out of the barrel. So I find the noise is now out in front of me, and not being generated right in front of my face.

Then of course, subsonic rounds are that much quieter.
