Hey,

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but I'm starting a 300blk sbr build.
Suppressor is a 762 SD.

I'm not sure if I should do a 9, 10, 11 or 12" barrel length.
My goal is max suppression and I don't know if a shorter barrel or longer barrel will help.

The velocity and energy difference doesn't seem to be too different from what I see.

Thanks!

Longer barrel helps, but I went with the 9" because I wanted my sbr to be as small as possible. The 9 inch upper is pretty cool.

I'm using an 8" for maneuverability...

Mine is 10.5. The powder is all burned by 8" so you might as well go small. My 10.5 vs my 14.5 is very similar soundwise.

The round was originally designed for  9" barrel, but most companies make smaller.  That can is fairly long, so I personally would go with an 8" or 8.5", 1/7 twist to stabilize sub's.

What powder and bullet are you using? Thanks Mike

I have a pair of 8s, 10.5 and a 14.5 and I can't tell the difference between any of them sound wise.  Go short especially cause that AAC SD is long.

I went 10.5 to fit nicely with my 9.5" geissele mk4 rail, balances and handles great with my saker

I went 8", super quiet with subs, slays deer with supers.

My 8.5" is accurate  and a shorter barrel  will assure the subsonic rounds that might be close to supersonic will remain below the speed of sound.

You gain a bit of velocity with a 10.5" barrel over an 8". If I did mine again I might go with a 10.5". Maybe not though, I might get it together and decide to go back shorter.

It's not like 5.56 though where a few inches is a huge difference.

Supers I use:
Barnes tactx 110
Hornady/Nosler 125
Speer 110 varminter
They are all close to 19 gr h110 but with some variation.
Subs:
208 amax
220 SMK
Fat_Mcnasty Magic bullets
I used to use IMR 4227 but recently found a bunch of aa1680.
Around 10gr.
All lake city converted brass and CCI 41 primers.

I'm with Dash.  I have a 10.5" and shoot 220 subs with 1680.  It wears a YHM Phantom under a 12" BAR rail.  Soon to have a 6" Ti homemade once approved.

The longer the barrel the better for suppression, but between an 8" and a 10.5" I couldn't tell a difference in sound signature given the same ammo and can.  I say go short.

8.5 all day, this is my 8.5" SBR Suppressed with a YHM Phantom so I can shoot Subs or Supers. My trusty 300blk Handi Rifle to compare.

8.2 here... As others have suggested, go short.

My 8.0 sounds better than my 10.5 with subs. Here is a vid of 8 inch

8"-9". I may have to give the 6.25" a try on my MCX though.
