I've got a .22 and 308 suppressor in jail right now and am now in the market for a pistol suppressor. What is the quietest 9mm suppressor currently? Multi cal or 9mm only. Are there any that are highly recommended?

Very little true comparison testing is done anymore it seems, so I'm sure answers will vary (and be largely based on opinion, not real measurements taken same day, same ammo, same equipment). Tirant 9, Revolution 9, or Obsidian 45 are probably the quietest.

I get the impetus for questions like this, suppressors aren't just lunch money and the wait makes it worse... However, I think anyone who owns more than just a few will agree with me that it's really not worth splitting hairs on dB's or proclaiming one that is head & shoulders can all others for some other reason. If you narrow it down to the flagship offerings of the well established players it simply comes down to how you rank/value small details like weight, materials, length, cost, etc... There's no perfect suppressor, even in a money-doesnt-matter scenario, the laws of physics can't be overcome by green backs. I'd weigh customer service/warranty as heavily as specs. Some companies are big but don't seem too concerned w/ John Q Civilian vs big Mil/LE customers, so "big" shouldn't be the only criteria. I've personally needed help from AAC & SilencerCo. Both were very helpful and did work for zero cost to me. SiCo had a 72hr turnaround, AAC 3-weeks. I'm pretty patient so no big deal on the 3-weeks, especially since it didn't cost me but I must say I was pretty impressed how quickly SiCo handled essentially the same exact issue.

For what it's worth, I went with a Liberty Mystic X for my first can, after a bunch or back and forth. I finally said to myself "what can I actually shoot a suppressor on, right now?"

I wanted to suppress my 16" AR 5.56, my 9mm handgun, and a .22 rifle.  The Mystic X did all of those, although not perfectly, I think it was a good choice. I have other cans in jail as well, but when the Mystic gets released at least I can have fun with it on a bunch of different guns while I'm waiting. Good luck!

TiRant 9 is super quiet.  I was shooting it on my AR9 at the range this morning.  Turned around when I was done and there was 4 people standing behind me, all amazed at how quiet it was.  Everyone wanted to know what can it was.

The AR9 is still a little loud as a host compared to the P226 EE.

In hindsight I should have picked up a TiRant 45 as well back when they were half off at $425.

Couldn't be happier with my Tirant 45

Im truly amazed how quiet 9mm subs are through it with my MP5K clone. Few feet away all you're hearing is action noise and a smack down range.

My 1911 is also very quiet.

Is the Ti-Rant 9 quieter than the Osprey 9? Would you folks opt for the Ti-Rant 45 over the Ti-Rant 9? Or the Osprey 45 over the Osprey 9?

Depends on what you plan on using them on.  Osprey 45 has a better tone than TiRant 45.  I prefer to run the Osprey 45 on pistols and TiRant on an AR9 SBR.

If you can find a TiRant 9 or TiRant 45 in the wild at a decent price, those would be good options.

In hindsight I should've picked up a TiRant 45 as well for $425 when I got my TiRant 9.  I would've probably kept that as my full time AR9 can..with fewer worries over baffle strikes with the larger bore.

I still like the Osprey as a dedicated pistol can.  Good performer, but I also love the way it looks too.

I am extremely happy with my Octane 9 and Osprey 9. Not a huge difference and better CS than AAC.

Every "What should I buy" thread has replies from members recommending what ever suppressor they currently own. That is because you can't go wrong with any suppressor from any of the top brands.

Yup. As an owner of an Octane, Osprey, TiRant, EVO, Mystic and some other pistol cans - you have a great suppressor in the Octane.

Few people have actually done legitimate comparisons between cans and everybody's hearing is different. What sounds good to one person may not sound good to you and vice versa.

Best post thus far in the thread.

I have to agree with your words regarding SilencerCo. I have a 7.62 Omega that had something wrong with it. I thought poor welds, but someone else said that it was an adhesive problem. One way or another without having a baffle strike I had the front unitized baffle stack shoot off my Omega after about 20 rounds and go flying downrange at roughly the speed of light.

Thread is here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_523/274075_Poor_welds_on_the_Omega____They_re_making_it_right_.html

Contacted Silencerco and they had a RMA in my email within five minutes, and upon me sending it back to them, had the suppressor repaired and on the way back to me in about a week. Got sent to Poland and didn't get to shoot it, but it was no questions asked, they made it right without having to deal with any bullshit.
