thank you for the reply's
i do have the abc's of reloading and can not find anywhere or in any other book where it talks about using load data from (like ) bullets and how to do safely, i have the lyman manual which only shows a 55 grain jacketed spt using a start load of 24.3 grains ,max load of 27.0 coal of 2.260, definatly hotter charge than hornady ,except the seating depth is longer
and will get the hornady manual soon
You didn't mention reading any of the tacked threads in your first post.
The Attention Read This tacked thread tells you to mention you have done some reading before you post.
Which is why I was suspicious in my first post.
So here is the secret to using load data; "start load"
Lowest charge shown is the "start load", called that because it's where you start. Makes sense if you think about it.
At the "start load" you can switch like but different brands of components. Cases, primers, bullets.
So you find data for your cartridge with the bullet weight and powder you have. No swapping powders ever.
Then you take your components load the "start load" and work up watching for pressure signs.
Do not exceed the listed max load.
So you can go to Hodgdon's data and use any 55 gr bullet load for the 55 gr FMJ. IF you use the "start load".
Lyman 49 is a great manual. Their data is good. Now put your new knowledge to use.
