On Wednesday I received my .308 and .223 trimmers.  I load them in a bench mounted drill press.  I had a few .308 cases to play with.  The speed was set to 650 rpm.  The cases trimmed alright but there was a bit of chatter.  I emailed

Doug to ask what speed he recommended and he said there was no fixed value and I should try all of the speeds.

I started at the highest speed, 3100 rpm.  Easy trimming with no chatter, uniform length and a beautiful clean chamfer.  I dropped down to 2100 (the next step) and got a clean trim but not as easy to hold.  As long as your hand holds up

trimming with the Tri Way is fun.

Yea.. I love my Tri Way - I've got the .223 - plan on getting the .308 soon. I have just been using my DeWalt trill for now as a motor.. May or may not get an actual motor for it down the road.

Thanks for the report, it good to know. I got the email today that my ,30-06 triway is on the way to me. I will try it at 6500 first. Did either of you find that you needed to adjust it or was it GTG as they semd it?

The trimmed cases measure 1.995-1.997.  1.995 is the SAAMI minimum so I felt no need to change.

I like that idea.  I run a WFT in my drill press at 1550 rpm.  Works well enough, but pushing up kind of sucks.

Nice.  I wonder if they are going to expand into other cases that aren't common parent cases.

Ok I guess I'll have to order a couple.

This place cost me money ever time I click.

Got mine and tried it out this weekend...... one word....

AWESOME!

Things I noticed:
It puts a lot more torque on your fingers holding the case than my possum hollow trimmer does. I'd assume this is because there is only one cutting edge on the Tri-Way and there are four on the P-H "mill". It also takes a little longer to do the trim with the Tri-Way, you can't go nearly as fast as with the P-H.

Using the .223 Rem trim setting from Giraud, it trimmed my resized brass to 1.745". The case they included measured out at 1.750" OAL. I'm assuming this is because I may be resizing my brass a tad too much, and then lopping off some extra with the trimmer. I retracted the blades on my Tri-way so they cut my brass to 1.750". More neck tension and less trimming. I could have backed off my resizing die, but I really only shoot autoloaders, and I'm not a fan of not resizing enough.... been there, done that.

This saves me ALOT of time on brass prep and is MUCH MUCH MUCH cleaner than the P-H. Money well spent!

Being a mechanic I have lots of tools lying around. Last week I was looking for a way to hold cases for primer crimp reaming. Rooting through one of my old tool boxes I found a pair of these.

Spark plug wire "boot" pullers or "sissy pliers" as we used to call them. No more hand cramps.
