Does the CQC have bolt hold on the last rd? Very interested

NATO CQC that is?

Yes, the NATO stock does have last round bolt hold open.

ALL AUG's from the STG77, A1 and up to the current A3 have always had last round bolt hold open.
Since the 70's up to today, all AUG's have had the last round bolt hold open feature.

I think it comes up because the nato stock doesn't have a bolt hold open release button like the a3 stock does so you have to bring the charging handle back to disengage it if i remember correctly, but I could be wrong.

Pete ! Will 14" barrels be available to have brakes pinned to them. I love the look of a 14" barrel with the sabre a3 muzzle brake pinned to it! I would definitley buy one.

They have plans on making  14" barrels with flash hider and check nuts machined on the barrel profile. That means it will be a one piece barrel, nothing pinned on. Overall length 16 1/2".

I did place a order for 100 NFA 14" barrels, hope to have those in a few months.

Pete Athens

That is a crazy to machine the flash hiders integrally, but a neat idea at the same time!

That's how the SIG 550-2 barrel is.

Pete, any update on Steyr doing 1:7 twist barrels? Will the 24 inch barrels still be 1:7?

Josh I just got of the phone with Eric (Steyr Arms AUG Project & Sales Manager) he told me their main focus now is to get the production rolling smoothly and to get AUG A3s out the door. After that is flowing smoothly then they will focus on other barrel/twist options.

They do have POs in for 18s, 20s and 24s. They are waiting on 1st articles for approval.

It will be a few months out before we see them.

Steyr AUG stocks have never had serial numbers on them nor will the new A3 ones have a serial number on the stock.

Just receiver and bolt carrier.

thanks in advance!

please try to talk them into doing 1:8 barrels.  that is absolutely the most versatile of all twist options.  then there would be no need for 1:9 or 1:7 and they could consolidate on just one

The spare Austrian barrels I've bought in the past were not serial numbered. Factory complete rifles were numbered, but spares weren't.

Edited to add, and looking at my A3 right now, I'm not seeing that the barrel on that is numbered at all either...

Well, that pretty much ends my time in the bullpup forum. The only source of AUG parts, knowledge and information for the past almost 30 years got locked.

It's been fun gentlemen.
That's what happens when people try and drum up business for free using our resources. Been like that for 14 years or so..

People often forget that AR15.com is a business and not a fan club.

True, and I don't disagree with what Striker did but there are a short metric ton of individuals on this board that are doing the same thing.  Not on the scale he was doing business, but they are out kicking up business under the radar.

I hope he gets a dealers membership and is back on soon.

VLTOR has to be pretty happy about this contract. Few companies out there are doing more than just AR receivers. I know the Noveskes all come with VLTOR uppers and now they're doing the Steyr receivers, which is pretty cool.

Pete, love your shop, but you need a better website brother.

Microtech half-assed their pin by not putting in the extra cuts to allow removing the butt plate without taking the pin all the way out.

IMHO the MSAR pin is a better design as it is a lot easier to install the buttplate and not have it drop off the gun after the pin is in.

Pete -

I bought two Sabre A3's from you when they first came out. Love them.

Going to acquire a CQC Vltor A3 through you when they are available (will need to sell one of my Sabre A3's to make the old lady happy), as the fore-quad rail Aug has always been my dream.

I have also considered getting a NATO stock with the new CQC. Can you detail the differences between this and the standard Aug build? Obviously NATO Mag compatibility - are there other differences one should be aware of when considering this option? All internals otherwise the same and compatible throughout?

Thank You.

"As the previous AUGs you have to release the bolt carrier with the charging handle. "

Thanks Pete. About the above, this is true with standard and NATO stocks, no?

I have a NATO stock, the charging handle is used to release the bolt catch and chamber a round.  There is no bolt release like the "ping pong paddle" on an AR15.

This is the stock from the A3. It has last round bolt hold open AND bolt release.

No matter which generation AUG you have, the last round bolt hold open mechanism is built into the trigger pack. The A3 bolt release (as seen above) is built into the stock.

The previous generation A1/A2 stocks have last round bolt hold open only. No bolt release tab/button like you see above.
With the A1/A2, as explained by others, you have to manipulate the charging handle to release the bolt.

I finally got to shoot my new A3 (from Pete) this morning.  As I'm still waiting on the intended optic to arrive, I threw an old Aimpoint Comp (not a Comp M2, or even a Comp M, but a mid 90s Comp) with the gigantic 10 MOA dot.  Not exactly what one would choose to make pretty groups with.

I shot a few to zero it at 50 yards, then swung onto a fresh target and shot five rounds for a group.  Ammo was my practice handload of Varget and 55 FMJ.
It made a 5/8" group.
I know 5/8" at 50 doesn't sound incredible, but considering the throwaway bullets, the sighting equipment's reticle that obliterated the target, and having only a handful of rounds through the gun at that point, I was pretty impressed with the rifle.

And no- You can't please everyone.
Staying just on Steyrs, I know their Scout has had at least three different bolt handles, and I've watched as everybody says they want the one they aren't making at the moment.

Id like to see the versions  of the SF scope and the A1 scope  that could replace the A3 top rail. These two options could allow a A3 owner the opportunity to turn his A3 into a SF version  or a A1 version   just buy changing the scope.

This in spades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
