Does anyone know where I can get a base / mount for a marlin 336 in 30-30? Brownells and midway didn't have anything that I saw. Any suggestions?

I have been using DNZ mounts on my Marlins.http://www.amazon.com/Game-Reaper-Marlin-336-Medium-Mount/dp/B004040D5Y

I have a blued one on my 1894 44 mag also. They are built like a tank.

I use the Tally extra low from SWFA. They are well made and sit very low. Perfect for a 2-7x32 scope.

I used the two piece 336-specific Weaver mounts from Wally World.  Work fine.

I backordered the XS rail from Brownells two weeks ago and it shipped out on Monday. Midway has theirs out of stock with an eta somewhere in March.

The Talley mounts mentioned above are extremely well made.

The Weaver's are also very good mounts and relatively cheap to boot; just make sure the Weaver's you purchase are American made, alot are not, but all of the Talley and Warne mounts/bases are.

If you wanted a picatinny rail, EGW makes one that I have used and it works well. It extends about 3/4" past the receiver over the barrel for pushing the rings forward.

I got them because I like a picatinny rail on all my rifles, but I do think that the one-piece EGW or Talley bases look alot cleaner on the rifle. If I wasn't invested in the picatinny rail, and I had a do-over, I would go Talley.

ETA: here is good link showing how the scope sits on the receiver. I take back my vote for the Talley, because you can see that the scope needs the extended rail so it can be mounted a bit more forward on the receiver.
