Subject says it all. I want to run an aac break on the business end. Is a 10" rail to long for my 10.5" barrel? Don't want to mess up my hand or the rail with muzzle blast. Also want to easily attach my can. Any pics would also be helpful. Would love to compare 9" rail vs 10" rail on a 10.5" barrel.

I've got a LaRue 9 on a 10.5 and it's very nice. I'll have to see if I can dig up pictures. I'm not sure you can pull off a 10 on a 10.5 with a can. The MK18 guys run a DD rail at 9.5" and can barely squeeze the can on.

A 10'' handguard will end right as the threads begin on your barrel. Depending on what can you run and locking mechanism, it may be difficult to manipulate. I have an 11'' on my 12'' barrel.

YHM cans don't have a lock to manipulate so you can run longer rails that cover the base of the muzzle device.

Here are some examples listed as a 10.5 with a LT 9.0. First one looks a little tighter. Also some Block II CQBR uppers which would be a 10.3 with a 9.5. I think that's as tight as you are going to get and will be mount/can specific. I'd stick with
a 9 and it will still look as bad ass.

I just built a 10.5.... Bought a fortis rev 10 but turns out this rail is actually 10.75 or some crap. Had to return it. Have a rev 9 in the mail which is supposed to be 9.25 so i'll have pics in a bit.

It really depends on the suppressor and rail. You should be fine with the AAC break.

I know for me, I run Saker and Specwar breaks/Fh's. My 11.5" SBR with 10" KMR was fine. My 10.5" SBR with a 10" KMR wouldn't work. I had to trade the rail for a 9" KMR and it's perfect now. Reason it didn't work is because despite the 10" KMR being marketed at that length, all KMR's extend slightly past their reported length. Enough so that a suppressor might not work despite the barrel length and supposed rail length leading you to believe it would.

I've got a 10" on my 11.5" bbl and it's BARELY short enough to mount a Gemtech Quickmount can.  Had to use a shim to get clearance.

I'd imagine if you're using a screw-on that doesn't fit under the rail you'll be fine with an inch clearance.

I was going through the same predicament and chose 9".  There are to many difference's in rail lengths (even when advertised) I would go with 9" or 9.5" minimum.

I did a 10" rail for a 10.5" barrel. Turned out great, and would actually be the ideal choice??

At work or I'd attach some sort of pic. Google it!

Just finished an SBR last night with a 10.5" barrel and I went with a 10" Seekins BAR rail. There's plenty of clearance in front for me to mount my Specwar (I'm using the Specwar brake) without touching the rail. I was going for a Compressor clone, but with all Seekins parts, but didn't want my can under my guard due to the way the Specwar mount cam works.

I also have a 300 blackout pistol (Spikes) with a 10.5" in barrel with a 9" BAR rail and I would say it looks fine. I also use it with a Specwar, there's just a bit of gap between the shoulder of the suppressor and the rail system. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they're both fine options.

That's almost exactly what I want to do. How is the heat through that handguard? I see you have the radial fluting... would you do that again?

I have a 762 SND6 that I want to put on a 10.5 and that rail/bbl combo looks "right". What gas block are you using?

Thank God for this thread, and for all of you taking the time to post pics.  Without seeing, it's so difficult to know where things will line up considering different mfg's 9" or 10" rails might vary by a few 8ths.

I have a seekins rifle, has a seekins adjustable gas block, with a 10 inch mcsr rail. Heat is a non issue Bc the girth of the rail gives you some space, my friends kmr gets too hot after shooting a few mags, so I don't mind a little thickness so I can shoot longer.

The radial fluting is cool but I would have been content with a Lighter barrel

I have a noveske mk18 clone, 10.5 inch with DD RIS rail, sig 556 10.5 inch with what ever size rail that comes with, a 10.5 inch seekins with 10 inch rail, a 10.5 inch DSG upper with 9 inch rail, a 9.5 inch AAC with 9 inch URX 4, and a cheap 8.5 inch with 7 inch rail.  So let me know if you need me to take any pics.... I'll gladly take it for you. I Also use a 762sdn6 can to give you idea of fitment.

I literally just did the exact same thing with the same rail. Hoping Rainier still has the 9" in stock by the time my 10" gets back to them. Should've read a bit closer!
