PAGE 3 OWNED
Why is this an AOW. There is no foward grip? Or is the wood forend considered a grip. It seems to me that it would just be a Thompson Encore. BPH's .22 AOW is a bad ass pistol. Fun as hell to shoot and supper quiet with the can. After the SBR that will be my next AR build. I am also considering doing AOW out of a SAIGA if I can figure out how to get rid of that ugly buttstock...LOL BIGFOOT |

"Also, why did you go for the AOW instead of the SBS?"
I bought a Serbu Super Shorty IN ADDITION to several SBSs. |

I'm in the same county as you and have been thinking about either a Serbu SS or one of OEF's "Witness Protection" models. 1. How do you like the Serbu? Comfortable to shoot much? 2. Was your dealer local? All of my toys have been transfered through Wades in Bellevue. If there's someone closer it's sure be nice. |

i know this is a Pic thread, but whats this i hear about a $5 fee? is the AOW the same as an SBR tax? and whats the difference between an AOW and a SBS? so from what i have gathered, i can put a 14'' barrel and pistol grip on a shotgun, and register it for $5?

I think it has to be bought like that. Go to a class 3 dealer and they should be able to guide you in the right direction. |

An AOW can NEVER have had a shoulder stock on it. Period. As soon as you put one on a "smoothbore pistol" it becomes a SBS and requires taxation as such and remains that classification forever more. It takes a virgin receiver from the start to make an AOW. |

Mossberg used to offer the 590 in a 14" barreled version (requires registering as a SBS). It is a sweet looking shotgun, regular shoulder stock and all. I manage to get by with the 20" barreled version, but the 14" job has 10X the cool factor.

(since its only 5.00 transfer, might be a better option) Looking for: Shotgun AOWs (Mossberg, Remington, other...) Rifle AOWs (whatcha got?) and Perhaps some Pistol Cal or Rimfire AOWs (penguns, creative works of art.. etc etc...). anyway, please post your AOWs only and lets get this thread moving! (Pictures and Descriptions would be ideal) (lets keep legal discussions and comments to other threads, to spread the AOW love.) -Jason ETA: OVER 2 YEARS LATER!!! http://jasoncook.us/images1/Serbu.jpg Picked up my SERBU SHORTY TODAY!!! 09/29/08!!!! Searched too as the Class III Forum Rules suggested posting in the AOWsection of Class III 2 years - why so long? I am thinking of taking a shotgun and having ADCO do the work while I wait for the form approval. |

You might want to run a tight sling to run between the grip and the mag cap (Scattergun sells a nice bottom loop plate), just to make absolutely sure your support hand doesn't end up in front of the muzzle. It'll also keep the forearm in your hand when shooting stout loads. Kharn |

I like the position of the Remington safety and the "witness protection" grip is very easy on my wrist and only adds to the handling.
