My wife wanted me to watch "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" with her. I asked why that movie, she said because it won an oscar. I told her nowadays, that just means it was gay enough. She ended up watching it alone, and turned it off before she finished. Then told me I was right, it was gay. Lesbian couple + pronouns in the first 5 minutes, and a scene of guys fighting over sticking things in their butt.

Just finished re-watching The Hunger Games.
It has the rare distinction of getting me back in the theater twice while it was in The Theater. What I don't understand is that while the picture was racking money in hand over fist, the price of shares of Lionsgate Films was going down. The film was a Serious success but the company's Shares was going down. |

Wife and I just watched John Wick 4. I was a bit disappointed with it. Last couple didn’t do it for me. Fighting was good, but it was just missing the meat of a plot or story. The first 2 had more to them in my opinion. I’m looking forward to Kandahar with Gerard Butter coming out at the end of this month. I saw the trailer for it right before John Wick. It looked tight. That and Dune 2.

Thirteen Days (2000)
I have not watched this movie in a long time, but I really enjoyed my viewing last night. The acting is top notch especially from Culp and Greenwood as the Kennedy brothers, and Costner playing the gruff but supportive O'Connell. The tension that Donaldson manages to generate during the crisis is palpable, as the US try to read signals from USSR whether it be via the blockade, or deciphering letters sent via telegram. The pressure is not just external though as the pentagon push for a more aggressive approach to the situation. Highly recommended. 8/10 |

I heard so much of the I, Claudius TV series Way Back Then.
I even managed to see an episode or two. I think. Make that Parts of the Last episode ANYWAY I saw The complete Series was available so I bought it a few weeks ago. I've been watching an episode every weekend. Interesting how the BBC was able to get away with some naked boobetry.... Native Dancers were top-free in Episode One, a dimly lit room for a subdued orgy got another actress to have much of her breast uncovered for a few seconds. It would be more or less described as PG nudity, maybe PG-13 now.... Episode Three in a few minutes. Who is showing what tonight.... ETA: OK, it was about 6 frames of the actress who was later known as Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show |

Napoleon - good and bad. Its a drama completely, more about his private life than his battles or anything else. Several battles in the movie, however they speed through them so fast I don't think all of them combined are even 20 minutes. Nothing like Patton. Its a film you might watch once or twice in a lifetime. Acting was good, but maybe the bluray will have an extended version with more battle time.
Legionnaire - yep the Van damme movie. just ok to crummy at spots. but never had seen that one before. |

The Terminal List - Former Disney star, starring in a modern Amazon production, I didn't have high hopes. Glad to be proven wrong. Punisher styled story, felt like I was watching something made 15 years ago. Only thing that hinted modernity was the use of terms such as "domestic terrorist", and "EUA, Emergency use authorization". I can't stand Constance Wu, but she did her job here, and nothing more.
