Finally got the touring pack painted and installed. The trunk came off a newer touring model---it was originally black cherry, so I had to strip all the chrome and lights to paint.
I also shaved about 2.5" off the windshield. The factory setup put the edge of the windshield directly in my line of sight and it was very distracting. I cut it down with a fine tooth metal bandsaw, sanded the edges smooth and then lightly hit the scuffs with a propane torch. Much faster than plastic polish and it's really hard to tell where the factory cut stop and my DIY cuts start. Finally, I installed a Tallboy seat--the original seat didn't give me any lower back support at all. Attached File Attached File Here's the edge of the windshield after cutting/burnishing Attached File I know that a big trunk loaded with LEDs isn't exactly OEM equipment for a Road King, but I don't think it looks too out-of-place, and it's going to be very useful on trips. My GF refers to it as 'Her Majesty's Throne'. ETA: Last weekend was the first long distance trip with the new seat, trunk and windshield. Roughly 600 miles round trip and close to 15 hours on the bike total on Saturday. We got on the bike at 6:15 AM and other than fuel stops and a lunch break, we didn't get off until 9:30 PM. The cut down windshield worked great with no buffeting at freeway speeds, we had plenty of room to store our jackets, tools, first aid kit, rain suits, and some snacks. The new seat was so comfy, I could have gone another several hours without discomfort. |

Sold my nitrous injected GSXR when I realized I wasn't scared of it anymore and knew I'd get myself deaded. Waited a few years and got an offer I couldn't refuse, plus the wife talked me into it.
So I got a couch. It's comfy, but probably the slowest bike I've ever owned. Attached File |

Don’t worry about how fast your buddies want to ride. Also, I would highly recommend taking the next classes. Intermediate, advanced, and total control. After 22 years on a Sportster I finally moved up to this. 2005 Road King cop bike, never used by a police dept so only 5K miles and no messy leftovers from the radio and sirens and stuff. I am really shocked how tight it will turn at low speed and how well it handles for it’s size and weight. I won’t sell my sporty but this cop bike is super comfortable and fun…. |

A guy was picking up a TW the day I picked up my Tenere. I just finished putting on a new skid plate, top rack, crash bars, and exhaust. I still have some more small parts and tires to put on before it’s done. |

Another rider in our group took this pic of us yesterday--we did about 300-350 miles, just cruising the backroads in the central part of SC. Lexington to McBee, to Florence, to Sumter, and back to Lex. Attached File |

Good bikes and very capable. The new speedmaster is really cool and the 1200 scram too. But I don't ride the one I have enough to justify buying yet another bike. One day soon I'll get mine fixed and back on the road. Attached File |

I don't run the passenger seat on my Guzzi but the hole there in the rear fender was unsightly and let water spray dirty the topside of the fender.
Found a local fab guy that put this rack together. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Thank you! Wanted something, but definitely not a harley. I need some ideas for the rack. Something I can stick or glue on it to make it less slick. I think sandpaper tape would be too rough. |

I'm in here somewhere (LOL)
This was our annual Polar Bear Run. Not exactly a 'polar' ride as it was something like 72 degrees, but it was a nice 250 mile scoot. We had 81 bikes and roughly 100 people attend this year. Attached File We took the Road King--with the tour pack, it's more comfortable for her and we have room for rain suits and such. Attached File |
