I've been trying to do business with a "nearby" dealership for about 4 years now. We were about to buy a camper when my wife gave me the final ok to buy a Porsche. I drove past the camper dealer and went straight to the local Porsche dealer. They wouldn't so much as give me the time of day. I was about to throw in the towel and just be content with the Cadillac when I reached out to a friend of mine who does business with another dealer in NC and gave me the contact information for his salesperson. I sent him an email and told him that I wanted a new GT3 and I knew that I had to develop a relationship with them first, and I was wondering if buying a Cayman GTS would get me on the list. He emailed me back and told me to give him a call. We spoke for about 15 minutes about what my intentions were and I gave him a rundown of my previous and current cars, and that the GT3 was a bucket list item for me. He said he would get me on the list for the CGTS and would be back in touch. Considering how my other car buying experiences have gone, I anticipated never hearing from the guy again to be frank. He called me back about an hour later and said he had a GTS allocation that locked the next day and asked if I was in. The rest is history! I got my GTS for MSRP and I'm on track to get a GT3 at MSRP whenever they start up production again. Talking about convincing the wife... She's not a fan of Porsches really, but when we were in the dealership they had a new Sport Classic on the showroom floor that she fell in love with, specifically the interior. If I didn't move forward with a GT3, I'd probably try get a 911 GTS with that interior if it was still available. |

Been having fun ordering stuff for it, Mats, new window rollers, side stripe etc. Its about 95% but has some stuff I need to do as well as address some hail damage it got this summer the one time it was out of the guys garage too. He had bought it for his only son, who got really into the car. Ran it in the Mile etc, but saldy his son took his life 2 years ago and the car just sat. I ran into him at the track last wednesday night and oogeled at the car while we shot the shit & he texted me the next day and offered it to me. So i jumped all over it. |

I do both, but this night was the 1/4 mile as it was the second to last night at Bandimere before it closes down forever. the car is boring and pretty Mundane on the drag stip as I always run 13.2 -13.3 at 109-112, clearly not the cars fortee and at a mile high and change... but fun nonetheless with all my car buddies. |
