Here's my original thread where I hand-painted my Corolla with Tractor Supply tractor paint. The factory color was blue.

but I did not prep the hood well enough and the hood paint is peeling. Plus, the rest of it is getting pretty dingy, I think I need to add a clear coat over the top of the whole car.
Here's what I think I need to do
1. buy a HF buffer and take off the gray hood paint. I've never done this before. What kind of sanding pad do I need? do I need to take it down to the metal as well, or just scuff it down to the blue paint more? I did not primer the hood the first time.
2. Primer the hood. I think I can do this with a can of spray on primer like I did on the roof and trunk originally.
3. Repaint the hood. I have some left over paint from a year ago, and I'll try the HF Wagner clone paint gun I used at the very end of the job last year.
4. topcoat everything. What do I need for this? Spray can clear coat? Do they make an automotive paint clear coat I can use with the paint gun?
