Good afternoon..
I saw a deal on PSA the other day for a PSA upper wit the twenty inch barrel, bcg and charging handle for about three bills out the door. Right? Go. |

Quoted: Yes you need at least one with a 20” barrel View Quote Kinda this. I also prefer my 20" barrel rifles when shooting at distances of 400-600 yards. My best rifle for that has an Armalite complete upper with a 20" heavy barrel. Other than KD, my shorter rifles usually come out first to play. |
Having one 20" AR is pretty based.
14.5 > 16 11.5 > everything if always suppressed |

I’ve got a 20” 6mm ARC build. Run of the mill 5.56 upper? I don’t see much need for a 20”.

My A2 is a joy to shoot. I can't imagine not having a 20in rifle.
Velocity, do you speak it!?! |

20” M16A2 clone for doing drunken close order drill in the garage
11.5” Suppressed SBR for everything else |
With the right ammo, not in the slightest. But you should still have a 20” anyway because they’re pretty neato.

During the 15 years you've been here...this has never come up before ??
. |
How else would I zip rounds right thru the red star on commie helmets?

The 20 gives slightly better velocity. It has a bit longer sight radius if you shoot irons with a USGI type front sight.
That said, the AR platform is a carbine platform and a good one. The 5.56 will never be a rifle cartridge, it's a carbine cartridge. I don't use irons, I use an optic so that point is moot for me. I will take the slightly lower velocity and gain handiness with the 16". With a collapsing stock it's a handy package with a decent reach. It's your money, spend as you wish. In any event, the amount of $ is pretty small for a complete rifle upper. |
Wife and I both have 20" ARs for general unrest situations. I want the maximum velocity on any round I send downrange if I'm not worried about anything but what's in front of me. M193 is stashed, but also want max effect on any greentip I might have to use.
If shit goes sideways and we need to fight our way to safety if our house becomes unsafe, we have suppressed 11.5" pistols and Mk318 ammo. |

The Frankengun I built for my son has a 20" bull barrel. We've nicknamed it "hog slayer". With 62 grain Federal Fusions, it delivers devastating wounds. Velocity kills.

If you are getting the velocity and accuracy with your ammo that you want, then no.

If the Colt A4s are still under a grand when I get busy enough that 1k isn't more than a days work I might buy one. I'm barely making that a week now so I can't justify it.
The PSA kits at $400ish are tempting every time I see them though. $400 free shipping I don't need this but it would be cool. Have a carry handle and probably a Anderson stripped lower laying around |

My favorite AR's are 20 inch muskets, A clone of my issue M16 A1 built on one of the M16 parts kits that were available a couple of decades or so ago with a Nodak lower and a Colt AR-15 A4 that came from the factory with flat dark earf Magpul furniture.

My longest ar is 18". I bought a 24" upper once and realized I had a Musket and not an AR.
Yes.
Under -16" diminished return 16" > GTG 18" > GTG 20" > GTG 22" > GTG +24" diminished return |
Everyone need at least one musket.. that how Eugene designed the thing.
20” inches for Commies 14.5” inches and below for terrorists |
20" definitely has better lethality
If you don't have an M16A1 upper you are doing something wrong. Super fun and super lightweight. H&R (PSA) make good clones now. |
My 20" w/ LPVO & collapsible stock is what Ill grab if I have to leave the house...
If I could do it all over again, I'd have a majority of 20s with collapsible stocks, with far fewer 16s. I'm in the extreme minority here I know.
