Driver in Stolen Lamborghini Huracan Crashes During High-Speed Police Pursuit in L.A. |
|

Saw that yesterday.
Cant believe the actual crash wasn't caught on a camera somewhere. |

Lol, from the comments, "That dude was thrown so far he could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident"

Holy crap, that car was absolutely demolished! I hate it when they blur the bloody parts.

You would think a car of that capabilities and cost would handle a crash better than that. I know they are all carbon fiber but you would at least think it would protect the driver somewhat, no spit him out.

I don’t think anybody’s walking away from a crash in any vehicle af that speed. |

Speed doesn't kill. The abrupt, instantaneous deceleration kills.
Anyways...stupid should hurt. |

As someone in the comments pointed out, he DOES eventually get out of the car.
. . . . . . Just not in one piece. . . . "His body was split into 3 pieces, crime scene officers found over 3,000+ pieces of the vehicle scattered within a 2 block distance. The engine ended up inside 4 different buildings in 19 pieces total. The guy passed away on the spot, his body was split vertically as police found the second half shown in the video, the 2 other body parts were across the street. 37 vehicles were destroyed from the fleeing vehicle. Police found chunks of the Lambo in other people's vehicles parked alongside the street. LAPD counted this as one of their worst crashes they have ever experienced. It took LAPD 4 days to clear out all the debris from the street to collect the vehicle parts for evidence. Still today, detectives are still dealing with the case and everyone's vehicle and property involved." |

This is probably one of those occasions that letting the police helicopter follow this guy and not put tons of people at risk or wait for backup to box him in. If this had gone further sideways bystanders or even people in the homes or apartments could have been seriously injured or worse. Also if he was a good driver they would of never caught up to him.

Why not park a unit in front of him if they had two units and suspected the vehicle was stolen?

A crash like that, and you wouldn't be wrong to be looking up into tree canopies and balconies for the guy.

The deceleration on a crash like this is off the chart, going from 115 MPH to 0 in .1 second. The amount of deceleration alone will split someone in two.
Rough calculation (168-0) / .1 = 1680 feet/sec^2 1680 / 32.2 = 52 G's Assuming the car weights 4000 LBS, this equals 124 slugs, force is equal to 124 x 1680 = 209,000 LBS.....yep that will ruin your day If the perp weighed 200 LBS, 200/32.2 x 1680 = 10,600 of rip apart force |

Was it wise for the police to pursue? Not for his (criminal) safety, but everyone else.

Hope the owner has good insurance. What a shitty thing to have happen
All it cost the perp was his life, which wasn't worth anything anyways. |

Ive worked 2 wrecks where the driver (in one) and the rear passenger (in the other wreck) were ejected through open sun rooks during roll overs. People go strange places when no seat belted in
