hopefully their host will tag the incoming, woe be unto those who plan such nefarious activities from their own IP...
In the meanwhile, I would think that circulating what yuou can get as widely as possible (copyright laws permitting, of course) would be one course of action.  |

This ad is creating more attention than the Swiftboat Vets could have bought with money!!!

Denial Of Service... Basically they run a program on a computer that goes out and hits the website millions of times per second, thus eating up all of the bandwidth and preventing other people from accessing the site. |

By taking control of the computers that belong morons and asswipes who don't use a firewall or don't have any security setting on their computer.
The computer becomes a "zombie" that is under the control of "someone else" who then instructs it through that persons ISP to try and contact (or hit) the Swift Vets website as many times a second they can for hours on end. Multiply it by a few thousand and that pretty much kills the ISP's server by taking the bandwidth away.

Could be DOS or, just fricken busy. DOS floods an IP with re-written headers that make the IP try to reply to something thats not there. Big time is a distributed DOS that will, once up to speed, suck the life out of any site with false IP requests in the packets. I think it is just busy, as DOS is getting easy to fix (check for the spoof in the header) |

I'm sure they have every variation of www.swiftvets.com (or any other anti-Kerry site) registered and linked to the typical "pseudo-news" sites (like Salon) in a feeble and flaccid attempt to woo voters. In the end, I think they will have to do things the old-fashioned way, just go out there and buy votes (*paging Mayor Daley*) to get Kerry in. |

Sean Hannity has had a few of the guys on his radio show this afternoon. They did comment that the site is under DOS attack, not just from individual people viewing. Kerry lawyers have also sent out letters demanding the site be taken down or they'll sue.

OMG that is outstanding. Now, a lawsuit would require a trial, which would require evidence which would require court appearances which would require JK to look like even more of an asshat. In short, I doubt even an injuction could get this ad pulled. Public figure, first ammendment and mostly people who personally knew him stating their opinions of what they recall from that time period. Kerry is about to be Borked.

If they manage to get stations not to carry it the first thing it will do is create a mad rush to see it... Believe me, its out there as much if not more than jibjab got out there. Then people will question why are they trying to stop this? Is it really slanderous, or is it that much of a threat. The last thing Kerry's campaign wants is people obsessing over it. LOVE IT!
