I'm lucky that I am allowed to surf at work, but the filter that has been changed so that I'm now blocked from most of the gun sites I frequent. Ar15.com and all the mirrors I know [jobrelated, arf, anti, etc.] have been blocked.
We can all decry the cultural politics that equate guns with porn. The proxy I've tried is too slow and clunky to bear. I'm on a T2 and hate to lose the speed! I've seen lists of the mirror sites before and think I've tried them all. Are there any new ones that the filter-Nazis might not have caught up to yet? Thanks. Update 8-11-04 www.banedsr.com is not magic either. The filter is on again/off again, but when it's on, everything is blocked. Thanks to all for their help. |

Is it possible that the filter is looking at the content of the front page and not just the url?
did you try the IP address numbers? I have it at home if no one else has it
How about antiussa.com? |
YUP. He must not be up against one of the Brainless philters! |
www.banedsr.com is working. Yeah!hank
For when they catch up to this one, tell me how to use the IP address number. Now I need to find a way into tactical forums and 1911forum!!!!! Thanks again. |
If you have a philter that is even marginally decent, the IP number won't work. That's the lowest level filter bypassing technique. Not many places have that shitty of a filter these days.
I know an admin dude who won't tell me the secret to surfing undetected. I've almost worn him down. There is a way to defeat ALL internet filtering. It involves a process by which the Site Address is converted to Octal numbering, but he won't get more specific than that. |
Go to https://megaproxy.com and go to ar15 from there. Its a SSL connection and most filtering software will not block it.
Most of the filters have been set to see this. I will try to find the conversion for you. I have it some where. Just for refrence. |

It's been working for me. CHRIS |

A high datacomm line, that costs $00s/month in charges. This is used mostly by commerical business for both data & voice. |
This is for converting IP addresses. It might work for some, but not all. I showed this to the dude, and it is not the Full Answer. I tried this technique all the way to the Octal IP, and It didn't get past the filter. |

I see no references to T2s. I'm aware of what a T1 and T3 and DS1, DS2 and DS3, etc. Edited to add: I answered my own question. It's equivalent to a DS2. |

what I do is just remote desktop to home and surf via my home browser...
works fine and looks like I'm working. |

I'm going to go ask the dick if this is what he means. I'll be right back!

Dickhead says that that is it! I'll have to try it out sometime.

banedsr may not be magic after all. Gun sites are working right now, even www.ar15.com. Maybe they're playing with my mind.
Townhall.com and Rush Limbaugh are blocked. Fox News was blocked Friday. Don't know if it means anything, but http://www.democraticunderground.com/ gets through! I can't tell you what a T2 is, but this my connection speed today: 2.63 Mbps (336.7 KBps) |
Get an AOL account at work but use theuir fast lines, that way you can even go to porn sites!

We have WEBsence at work and it blocks all "Weapon sites".
Any help fellows? |
Try the IP Octal conversion discussed on the first page of this thread. You need to get AR15.com's Numeric IP. |

RobertM,
We used websense here for awhile and IIRC, all blocking was done by IP address as well as hostname. Every once in a while someone would complain about a "legitimate" site being blocked as porn or somesuch, because their provider used virtual hosting and also hosted porn on the same box, and blocking was by IP. Anywho, we dropped websense after it became prohibitively expensive - IIRC, "Weapons" was one of the "premium" groups that cost lots of $$$ to have. Submit a proposal to management to reduce the websense license to the base groups (porn and whatnot - mostly covers any liability concerns of management) as a cost-savings measure . Rocko |

Anyone. |

Websense. It's a real bitch, aint it? We've got it too, blocks everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Shit, I can't even go to archive.org because it's classified as "proxy avoidance".
that is slick... I might have to set that up if the ever filter me |
Yes it is |

OK guys, as an network engineer working in a WebSense environment let me tell you that octal URLs will NOT fool most decent filters.
The solution is fairly simple . . . sub-MOA is very close. 1. Get a cable modem at home 2. Get an approx. 500Mhz PC and install Windows 2000 or 2003 server (hit the warez sites or ask a connected friend). Turn on remote administration (already on by default in 2003). 3. Now the interesting part - WebSense will automatically block most outgoing terminal/remote desktop session. This is based on port number . . . so just change the port on the server that terminal services runs through. See this link for details. I use port 22 (SSH) because it's usually open. 4. Remember your home ip address . . . you can usually get this off of your routers remote administration page. 5. Set your router to forward any traffic to your chosen port to the internal IP address of your server. 6. Finally, go to work and open up remote desktop and type in <home ip address>:22. Your desktop will open. For increased speed, lower the encryption level to low. Your video stream will already be pretty confusing to someone with a traffic analyzer. This all sounds much more complex than it really is. If you're not sure, get a tech savvy friend to help you out. Other than the install, it's a 5 minute job. Works for me, I can get to ANY SITE THAT I WANT. I can surf porn, etc. And all of the cookies/temp files stay on your home machine. Of course, I also have a password over-ride on the WebSense server, but it's audited YMMV _Disconnector_ |

I use ultr@vnc - but yeah, that will work too. You can also use socks and remote desktop if the remote desktop port is blocked. But all that depends on more privs than your avg. user gets. (where I work anyway ) |

This is hardcore, but it will work: Find a friend with a unix machine running a local web proxy, have him give you an account. Get an SSH client. SSH into the box, and enable 'port forwarding' from 127.0.0.1:8080 to the remote machine proxy IP:port combo. Manually set up your web browser to proxy all connections to 127:0.0.1:8080. To keep them from detecting you, set a few manual domains in your web browser's 'no not proxy' list, like yourcompany.com, yahoo.com, gmail, google, etc. so they don't detect you. I did this when I worked for a .mil contractor that heavily restricted your ability to connect to the internet. You might need a nerdy friend or two to set this up though. Defeats 100% of all web filtering. Pornsurf all day. |

A T2 is just another name for a DS2. It is a T2 when it is in the OSP (outside plant) and it is considered a DS2 when it is in the subscribers hands. They are the same thing. Same as a T1 and DS1, T3 and DS3 etc... -=Tim=- |
