Well, in most equivalent events (100m, marathon, etc) the Gold winning woman would not have even placed close to the top 3 in the men's event (and no medal).  So, how is creating events just for women to compete in so they can get medals any different than creating "special olympics" for handicapped people so they can get medals?

Special Olympics- Everyone gets a medal
Girly olympics- only top 3 gets a medal

And I would hate to see the size of the women that has to compet aginst men.

<lol>, I owuld love for you to pick your absolute best sport, the one where you are the fair haired boy, and compete against the bronze medal winner.  Humbling might be the word that comes to mind, humiliated would probably be more like it.  <s>

It's the trill of victory and the agony of defeat, not the absolute performance levels. If it were absolute performance nobody would have watched the events in the 30's, when some of the times were similar to those of the top women of today.

Besides, do you really want to give up watching beach volleyball?

I choose "Writing my name on the sidewalk with a stream of pee"........

I KNOW I can beat the bronze medal winning woman at THAT.

Besides, how many women have names with TWO letters......

Hopefully STEPHANIE is the bronze medalist.

While very funny, I do no think that is an actual olympic event.

That's completely pointless... does that mean I should like the WNBA because those women are better at basketball than me?

Basketball in any incarantion is a stupid pointless game.  Watching womens breast bounce is fun though.  YMMV.

As to karate, wouldn't you be really embarrassed to have some little japanesse girl kick your ass so bad it took a surgeon to allow you to see again?

They are as much  serious competitive events as the mens events. Their times may be different for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't mean that they should be viewed as second-tier competitors. You are comparing apples and oranges.

If I had to choose to fight either the top woman or the top man, and I'd get a million bucks for winning, I'd take my chances with the woman.  Which one would you pick?

Their bodies are different; different physical make ups; that does not make them less competitive than men. I am willing to bet a lot of those women could whip your butt.

I'm willing to bet all of the men would whip my butt too, that's why they are competing, because they are the best.

So... let's take me... maybe I'm not genetically made up to be Olympic material.  Should there be a class in the Olympics for guys like me?  I didn't pick my genetics any more than a woman picked her genetics and decided to be a women.  But she gets a "special" class where she can compete with others who aren't the best.  You guys keep saying it's about being "competitive" but then say these women could beat me at their sport that they train their whole life for.  Whoop de do.  My softball team is "competitive" but you don't see us in the Olympics.
