Although the disappearance of the ice has reduced the speed of the planet's rotation, the Earth is still spinning a bit faster than it used to.
Duncan Agnew, the author of the study and a geophysicist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, says the ice melting in Greenland and Antarctica has changed where the Earth's mass is concentrated. This has slowed down the Earth's rotation as less solid ice at the northern and southern areas of the planet means there is more mass around the equator, the study suggests. Mr Agnew has used the example of a figure skater twirling on ice to explain this. He told Sky News' US partner network NBC News: "If you have a skater who starts spinning, if she lowers her arms or stretches out her legs, she will slow down." However, if a skater's arms are drawn inward this means she will twirl faster. https://news.sky.com/story/human-driven-climate-change-has-slowed-the-earths-rotation-and-could-affect-how-we-measure-time-study-suggests-13102985 Someone needs more government grants. |

Oh bullshit. They aren't even trying anymore. Make up whatever, get a grant to back the bullshit up, and all the smooth brains will add it to the current and future lies.
Edit. I could live within my "carbon footprint" for a decade or two on what the climate scammers emit in just one conference to fiji. |

So once again the climate zombies have convinced me that the earth is returning to normal. I should burn some tires and do my part.

The title of the piece is very misleading and implies the rotational speed has slowed overall, and it's due to climate change, whereas the article itself says 'In recent decades, the Earth has rotated faster due to changes in its core but the melting ice has counteracted this burst of speed,'
So climate change has been good in this case, as it's tamped down the core-led rotational acceleration, if one were to believe that at all (or that it's man-made). And the rate of change of the rotation of the planet is Infinitesimal in any case. In other words, what a load of bollocks. |

Why are population limits never discussed as a solution to climate change?

I think they’ve been so hammered by memes and online they are determined to push the agenda through no matter how silly they look.

How in the literal fuck does anything we do slow the earths rotation?

The solution is for everyone to face West and start running hard at the same time. The force of the runners will speed up the Earth's rotation back to pre Global Warming speed. We may have to do this several times. Think of the earth as a treadmill, we need to speed it up.

Quoted: Doesn't the Three Gorges Dam hold back enough water to slow the rotation ever so slightly? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: How in the literal fuck does anything we do slow the earths rotation? Doesn't the Three Gorges Dam hold back enough water to slow the rotation ever so slightly? I had no idea so I looked it up. Apparently it does but very minimal. Still don't buy what the thread states. "Raising 39 trillion kilograms of water 175 meters above sea level will increase the Earth’s moment of inertia, and thus slow its rotation. However, the impact will be extremely small. NASA scientists calculated the shift of such a mass will increase the length of day by only 0.06 microseconds, and make the Earth only very slightly more round in the middle and more flat on the top. It will also shift the pole position by about two centimeters (0.8 inch). Note that a shift in any object’s mass on the Earth relative to its axis of rotation will change its moment of inertia, although most shifts are too small to be measured (but they can be calculated)." |

We fucked up the environment so badly to have caused a time paradox/quantum-inversion so bad even CERN and Oak Ridge(who's fucking with portal tech) are going WTF.
These are from March 27 2024 on some world-line: Earth is spinning faster than it used to. Clocks might have to skip a second to keep up. A faster spinning Earth may cause timekeepers to subtract a second from world clocks |

going to need a faster treadmill to get them planes up I spose

The environmentalists think that humans are a cancer on the face of the Earth, and that we have exceeded the carrying capacity of our species, even though our population is still going. If they actually gave half a fuck, then they would spend a fraction of the money that we piss away on "climate change initiatives" and spend it to help pull more people out of subsistence lifestyles, improve healthcare in poor countries, and work to increase the per capita income of poor countries. Look at birth rates in "first world" countries compared to those in abject poverty, living in their shacks, throwing their trash out on the ground, and burning wood or animal dung to cook and heat with. What's the carbon impact of that? The climate morons are so fucking stupid that they won't fund natural gas powerplants and pipeline systems to be installed in African countries that have a ton of natural gas, because fossil fuel is bad, so they want the people to continue to cook on wood and dung fires. What's better for the environment? Clean burning natural gas cook stoves and heating systems, or wood and dung in open fireplaces? Fucking smug, clueless, assholes. |

Those commie fucks will just make up any bullshit and call it "science" nowadays.

Does slowing it reduce the gravity?
Sweet, we are going to be lighter. |

Mars gets massive polar caps down to 50-70 degrees of latitude every season due to melting and refreezing carbon dioxide, and their day is roughly the same as ours.
This is just related to the constant updates of delta T, the difference in seconds between Terrestrial / Dynamical / Ephemeris time (basically an imaginary clock that is not effected by the length of the earth's day or when noon is), and Universal Time. We can tell Delta T back to Columbus's day and before based on observations of eclipses. Its always changing though, whenever UTC and Universal time get more than 1 second out of sync, because UTC is working off an atomic clock, they add another leap second to UTC to keep it functionally the same as universal time The climate change freaks are digging into this topic, looking for how to make a Kent Hovind style buzzword argument |

LOL, secular humanist.
God will not allow the earth to be destroyed by humans. Also see. God also promised his people the heavens and earth will not pass away untill all of his will has been fulfilled. |

LOL I love when they talk about ice melting in Greenland, but they conveniently leave out all of the snowfall, which more than offsets what melts pretty much every damn year.
