What a great and disturbing film that has aged exceptionally well. Incredible cinematography, acting, and audio.

Such a well done movie, rare even. Almost like a premonition these days.

That one-take bombing scene is a masterpiece of modern cinema.

I saw it with my friends in high school. They were "too cool" to watch a movie with that title but I wanted to see it. Needless to say they were glad they tagged along after the ending action scenes

Felt entirely too much like predictive programming to me to enjoy. Especially after watching the DVD extras.

It has aged well because it depicts our modern reality.
It's a documentary, we just didn't know it back then. |
|
"Children of Men" is a variation of "Son of Man," a reference to Jesus Christ. The author of the book is very religious.
That was lost on me at the time. |

It's a movie I would watch anytime it was on a movie channel back when I had TV.
Among other things, I always appreciated that it wasn't the typical evil, right-wing tyranny vs. the righteous, leftist rebels. The gov were self-serving pieces of shit. The resistance were self-serving pieces of shit. Then there were the normal people caught in the middle. |

The part where they bring the baby out of the building is up there with some of the best scenes ever put on film.

Anything with Clive Owen as the lead is good.

Even the action scenes felt like a brutally accurate portrayal of the randomness of modern war. Bullets aren't even addressed to any one side, but instead carry a label of "to whom it may concern". About the only thing it didn't predict was smart phones. Everything else looks and feels almost exactly like where we ended up. Probably the most accurate representation of what the 2020s would look like. |

Saw it in the theater. Went in blind. Had never heard of it, but a friend urged me to go.
Walked out speechless. Such a great movie. ** The scene where they are tying to pop-start the car and get away ... the tension in that scene is incredible. |

Did you notice the overt communist propaganda in the old couple's apartment in the quarantine zone? Yes. They were geriatric refugees from Eastern Europe and the former USSR who still had their old Soviet medals. That's called environmental story telling, not propaganda. The movie definitely leaned left, but it came from a time when the left wasn't sucking corpo dick like there was a cum embargo. |

Decent soundtrack. But gave me a slight anti gun vibe that 'might' be entirely in my head. I still like watching it though which might have a little to do with Monica Bellucci |

I enjoyed it, thought the (Mexican) director leaned pretty hard into the whole illegal immigrant thing.
Apparently, Western countries having borders is wrong. I wonder how he feels about Mexico's immigration policies? |

For me, this is the best scene in the movie. It blows me away that it was done in a single take.

Night Raiders on Netflix was supposed to be influenced by Children of Men. Might have to give it a watch.

The fighting sounds are some of the more realistic I’ve heard in movies.

I still like watching it though which might have a little to do with Monica Bellucci The plot was an evil gun manufacturer killing people to prevent the repeal of the 2nd Amendment. The protagonist, whose family was killed in some sort of shooting, kills a corrupt politician and explains that his assassination will trigger stricter gun control. I'd say it's more than a "slight anti-gun vibe". All hypocritically done with excessive amounts of gunplay. |

It's my favorite movie of all time and for good reason. Clive Owen and Michael Caine are excellent in it and the cinematography is top notch.
The scene near the end where he is escorting the pregnant woman to the dockyard is GOAT material. |
