I want to be a tank driver...
They dont wash you out if you get stuck like that one guy did... will they |
Yeah, in my next life I'm coming back as a tanker. My feet hurt.
I don't know if it's still true, but I think the Challenger used to have the biggest main gun of any NATO tank. |
Its a 122mm rifled gun, and is very powerfull. |

Are you a sitting duck in those things? Can an RPG ruin your day inside an Abhrams?
I would say Abrams, though the T-80 is far more deadly than anything Saddam had. |
It would have to be a very unlucky day for you. |
The Abrams would be the favorite in that fight. The T80 uses standard armor and ERA, doesn't it? |
In the first days of the invasion, there were reports of Abrams tanks taking up to 20 or 25 RPG hits without any significant trouble. |
Cool... Somehow I got the impression RPGs would spew molten steel inside tanks... Maybe it was HummVees instead... |
The only thing that can reliably kill an Abrams, is another Abrams. I have seen pictures of some own-goals from GWI.

Challenger has a 120mm rifle, same calibre as most NATO tanks these days. Until the advent of the 55 calibres smoothbore on Leclerc, and now also Leo2A6 and M1A2SEP, it was the longest tank gun in NATO. Now tied.

Its a small world aint it? Thats pretty cool that you can pic them out.... |

God Bless you for being in there... We are praying for your safe return. |

Don't worry, I got back a week or two ago!
I've got to put some of my fun photos up, here are some more. The three tank just nose-dived into the field (Heavier than the field could handle), the Four tank reversed to pull it out, and that started to sink, so my One tank then hooked up. Eventually made it out. Everyone is entitled to decorate their tank! This was out happy crew for the first of the year. My gunner later got his own tank, resulting in a reorg in the TCMR. NTM |

Duuudddee.... WTF????? |
Yes, an RPG can ruin your day, and has to a number of Abrams tankers. Usually with more effect on the crew than the tank, I should add.

Those T-80s look like something out of a military book from the early 1970s.
I think it was a big upgrade from the T-72 though, especially in its fire control system and armour. |
I thought Canada still had Leopard IA4s. If any. |
I love the pic of the sabot splitting apart as the APFSDS round goes downrange! THAT is really kewl. My son was an M1A2 crewman. Miz LWilde and I got a short ride one day. VERY neat weapon system... ON THE WAY!!! |
