Well, here's the news. I call them. It's not toll-free from here. But I call because I am curious, and I inquire about their HR-1703 position, looking to make an angry editiorial for the gun rag I sometimes work for [CCM] about their response. And they tell me: "The NRA position? Well, we're looking into this bill, we are not [supporting it at the moment, but we're researcihng the possibility." This is different again from the responses they were giving just recently. Is it the mailing campaign or something different? Regardless, mail, write and call them. Don't get off their back now! The NRA ILA Grassroots Hotline is 800-392-8683, and it's toll-free for those within the US. Press 4 so that you talk to a living person and bitch at them about HR-1703. Call early, call often. They must be pressured into supporting it if it's ever to get out of committee much less to pass. |
Wow, thanks!! I'll call them. I know I've read that you said you plan on moving stateside, and thats good. The gun community needs more people like you. It seems like you do more to promote our interests and rights than some people here in the states, myself included somtimes Thanks again. |

I am selfish. Israel is screwed behind hope. I just want to still have an America to move to in three years. |
They called me yesterday trying to get money to support a push against some U.N. bullshit against small arms. Just put Bolton in and problem with them is solved. Then the NRA could put it's resources behind other more important bills.
well done. hmmmmmm........... well lets keep harrassing them. someone try contacting wayne lapierre personally. anyone have a clue what his phone number is?
+1. Besides, the UN is irrelavant in my book. They can pass any small arms crap they want, it won't mean a damn thing here in the US. |
Ha!
Fuck all you guys that flamed me in my thread about telling off the NRA because they didnt support this bill!!! my thread here It appears the NRA does listen to its members! |
I'll call these jokers up tomorrow to bitch about it. I'll also get my dad to call and bitch about it.
Like a duck on a junebug, baby!
Never back down, never give up. Let your voice be heard! Until 922 US Code is gone, I will fighting the fight. |
Accept nothing but absolute victory, dude! |
I think some of the lesser board members are less elusive, anybody knows? |
Okay, in case I forgot or never heard what's the gist of HR1703?
It basically repeals the sporting purpose clause and the 1989 import ban. There's a pinned thread with it's text too.
hey Balrog, I thought gun ownership rights in Israel were good? Isn't it true that if you served in the armed forces, you can easily get handguns and depending on the area, automatic rifles with few restrictions?
The NRA is clearly part of the vast international Jewish conspiracy. It only listens to callers from Israel. |
No. It's not. Let's just say only about 265,000 people in Israel own guns. Out of a population of 6 million. Rifles are ISSUED by the government in some areas, and they'll take them away when they want to. Privately owning a centerfire rifle is generally a big no-no. |
just got off the phone with "Eric" at the NRA/ILA grassroots dept. says they're working on it etc etc.
let's keep up the pressure. |
They're WORKING on it? Holy MOTHER! |
No, they're lying to you. I just talked to them on the phone and they told me "Well sir, it comes up every year, and we don't believe it will make it out of committee, so we are remaining neutral on it." That's code for they are not doing jack. When I explained that the sporting purposes clause was antithetical to the true meaning of the second am., the girl just (with the tone of her voice) "rolled her eyes" and said "okay, sir. thank you." |

jblachly - time for another call, then. Those are toll free - it costs you nothing to pester them, and eventually they will cave.

The NRA has gotten to be too politically correct because of the scrutiny that they get, not to mention the fact that the owners of EBRs are more than likely viewed as the fringe element even by them. Bring up the '86 FOPA to them and see what they tell you, I doubt you'll get two words in before they hang up the phone. It's just mind boggling to me that the biggest 2nd Amendment orginazation out there that states they are fighting for my 2nd Amendment rights so freely compomises with anybody that'll listen to them and then tell prospective members that they need money to fight this and fight that. Just exactly what did they fight and win? The AWB? Nope it expired. The '86 FOPA? Not a chance. The '89 import ban? Yeah right. I will give them credit for fighting the bill that allowed manufacturers to be sued, but there's no way that could have held up in court anyway. Just too many possibilities there that would have had even non-gun companies cringing at the fact that they could get sued for the mis-use of their product. They do have a chance here to redeem themselves with the import ban but you know what, they'll probably piss that away too.

Contact Information for NRA-ILA:
Q: How can I reach the NRA-ILA? A: Please contact the NRA-ILA at [email protected] or by phone at 800-392-8683. |
I already posted that. And phone contacts are much, much, much better than e-mail. |
The woman at the ILA said they are investigating hr 1703's chances.
Right now HR 800 is their primary focus. |
So call back every day and pester them - after all, they are paying for your phonecalls. |
Nice to see some dividends from our efforts, finally!!!!! If the old thread is still tacked in GD everyone hit the links and contacts again, PLEASE!!!!
How long till this session of congress ends???? |
No clue.
And IMHO, Mattl, "Looking into considering" is still not good enough. Give 'em another phonecall. |
