Just thought I would share a couple of things I lernt in skool

just in case anyone is interested(my grammer is not great but, sheese)

your=is possessive, as in: your boat, your girl, your house
you're=contraction for "you are" as in: you are IN my boat, my girl, my house

there=a place, location, area, as in: there is a boat, girl, house
their=possession, as in: their boat, their girl, their house

I'll try to locate an e-mail that I received describing many different quirks of the english language

finally: it is NOT "your an a$$hole" it IS "you're" an a$$hole

please return to your regularly scheduled thread

Your point is noted. I can't remember how many people that I have corrected considering the improper useage of these very words.

you're=you are

I disagree, I don't think everyone knows, I spend a lot of time here
and have seen many posts with that one glaring mistake
(and, it is spelling nazi, my grammer is severely lacking)

Actually most people nowadays really don't know this. I have seen many people misspell/misuse these words all the time when writing.

I strongly disagree.  I do not think that "everyone else already knows" based on the posts I have read.   I am by no means an example to follow, but I do get tired of re-reading posts trying to decipher the original poster's message.  And if it educates one person, it was worth it.

What's wrong in being accurate in the written English language?  If we could all get our meanings across accurately, then maybe things like the "CaptainPooby Affair" would only cause about a tenth of the hardfeelings between members.

It appears that a lot of people left school before they learned about contractions. People make themselves look stupid when they type " should of"when they should type "should've", which is of course a contraction of should have.
