I know I'm opening myself up for a ton of crude jokes,
but I've got a sense of humor, and I'm pretty thick skinned. Wife keeps getting bacterial vaginosis. (A bacterial infection in her vaginal tract.) She isn't sure if she had them prior to me, but she suspects she has. She follows the "good hygeine" recommendations advised by her OBGYN, And I try to avoid spanking the monkey after swimming in the sewer. We just picked up the latest prescription, and it is for a vaginal suppository antibiotic. Wife is at her computer getting upset because she is learning that getting BV during pregnancy can cause problems, and we haven't gone longer than just a few months at a time without her getting an infection. She isn't pregnant, but that is in our future plans. She is on the birth control pill, but we have been told that the pill doesn't make a person more prone to BV. Can I be harboring or carrying a bacteria that keeps reinfecting her? Should I start showering with Chlorox and having her douche with lye before intercourse? |

10 foot pole. |
Have her douch with vinager. Old time remedy for rotton crotch.
If it'll clean a coffee pot.................... |
Well, I guess I figure SOMEONE has been in this situation, and has found a solution. (aside from kicking her to the curb) |
+1 Holy Shit!!!!........ |
Yea, but the hoity-toity nurses at her woman doctor's place says douching is "bad". So she is a little timid of doing that. (although I threw a 4-pack of Summers Eve in the cart on the way home from the pharmacy) |
Didn't the doctor tell her how this is usually contracted? Didn't he give her any ideas on prevention?
Get in the shower togther and have her wash you up
Really Really Really Really Good. Then if it happens again, It's her fault. |
The same thing would happen with my ex of 10 years. If we had unprotected sex (ie no condom) there was a good chance that she would get an infection. My doctor swore that there was no way i could be reinfecting her but I dont believe him. We've been broken up for 2 years now and she says shes only had it once since we split up...there must have beena way that i was a carrier
None. Is there a "usual" way to contract it? |

and homosexuality used to be a form a mental retardation. |

THANK YOU! I knew I couldn't be the only one. |
Okay I'll play along, where as I have no experience in this, nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn last night, I have to wonder, could the problem be originating with you???
Are you cirumcised? Have you been checked for maybe harboring a funky bacteria or such?? It might be a good idea to both go in together and both have a 'culture' done. If you are carrying something it could cause her to get reinfected if you don't also kill the bug... |
So there you have it. It's coming from you. Now there's only one thing for ya to do: Boil your dick! |
I've read where wives of men who are uncircumsized have similar problems. I'm not asking you what you are in the that dept -- just sharing the info. If this applies to you: you'll want to disinfect the "unit" before the party starts.
IANAD, but perhaps you should go see a urologist and ask about the issue. I have heard of men having chronic prostate infections that were virtually asymptomatic. Jim |
Might be a good idea to wrap your man up.
It'll eliminate you as a problem and keep the bugs off your junk. |
I am cut.
I do wipe front-to-back. (so does she) I've not heard anything about prostrate infections being linked, but I'll look into that now that you have mentioned it. I have strongly suspected I could be a carrier, although I don't have any symptoms. The "hoity toity" nurses said that IF I was carrying something, I would have some kind of a discharge, fowl odor, etc. No problems there. So they wouldn't even look at me. (and I tried so hard for them to look at me) |
Or... what if the culture is in his mouth + some cunnlinugus (sp)? Na.. the vagina is more hostile/acidic than his mouth. Maybe he is eating some food and not brushing his teeth before eating her. Do you get those little fishes as topping on your pizza? |
Try having her put her socks on before her panties.
Could be she's picking it up off the floor, do you have pets? Ex stopped getting the yeast following this advice. |
Go see your proctomoligist. |
urologist...? edit: might ARDOC know somthin'? |
I am not |
Paging ARDOC. He would have the answeres you seek grasshopper.
Woman Doc did say that intercourse after fellatio could cause it. (Damn doc) So as a test, that stopped. Yet she got another infection two months later. And there is no "return of the favor" due to the infections. Nope, no pets. We have moved since being married, and there has been no change in the pattern. (not that there is a 'pattern') |
Last time I saw a urologist was for a kideny stone.
Fucker shoved his finger up my ass. And I didn't like it at all. |
Pets? What do pets have to do with this? Um.. something you ain't telling us? |
Someone else mentioned pets. (ie, pet stuff on the floor, furniture, clothes, etc) |

HPV = Human Papilloma Virus. Virus /= bacteria. |
HPV and BV are unrelated. She has been diagnosed with HPV. I was a terror in college, so we assume she got that from me. And as you said, it is fairly common in women. (which means it is also fairly common in men too) But I was the first person which with she had unprotected (no condom) sex. |
In other words, Virus <> bacteria, err... Virus # bacteria |
Or from anal to oral to vaginal. |

OK, here is my the vagina is a ecosystme rant. The vagina has several thousand species of bacteria and yeast that live in harmony. Its a self sustaining and self cleaning system. Agents that are harmful to this ecosystem can be many. The pH is acidic around 4. The acidic environment keep the good bugs happy and keep the bad ones at bay.
Just frequent intercourse can cause BV, some mens semen is very basic and will raise the pH of the vagina allowing bad bacteria to florish. Hookers get this all the time. Douching as many women are prone to do, will also disturb the balance. Antibiotics Hormones Soaps Poor hygiene And yes oral sex. Saliva has a tremendous amount of nasty bacteria and proteolytic enzymes that are produced by your glands. They will wreck havoc on the ecosystem. So dont slobber into your woman's vagina. Gardenella has been the suspected organism that causes BV. Flagyl, Clindamycin both oral and suppositories have been effective. Sometimes you will have the MOABV and nothing short of a nuke will make it better. Betadine douching has worked for some. Hormone replacement or birth control has worked for others. Really tough cases I refer to Infectious Disease. I am lucky enough to have the world authority on stubborn BV in my backyard. I had one girl in her 20s that was getting BV all the time. I switched her birthcontrol and it went away. On another note BV has been linked to preterm labor. So its not a totally innocous disease. BV also has a very specific amine smell, like bad fish. Its very characteristic. And the smell gets worse after intercourse when the basic semen reacts with the bacteria. Whitish thin discharge like milk is what it usually looks like. Sorry but no taste comparison. We went to a bachelor party for my buddy and one of the strippers came over and asked if I wanted a dance. I actually could smell her about 5 feet away. All I could say is, "You know I can help you with that infection". |
On the new vaccine for cervial cancer, its not the golden bullet that the lay public think its going to be. There are several different subtypes of HPV that are high risk and cause cancer. This vaccine only covers one. Not to mention there are other causes of cancer not just HPV.
So ARDOC,
Is there a way to know if any treatment she has gone through actually fixed the problem? How do we know if she is getting reinfected, or simply not properly treated? |
What was the look on her face?? |
See grasshopper, ARDOC a glimmer of sanity in an otherwise unfogiving ARFCOM
Reaper the first step is to culture it to see if that is really what it is. The lab will let you know. But the things you are looking for is as follows. Whitish thin discharge Increased pH of the vagina Clue cells on micro slide Fishy amine odor that increases with intercourse ETA or with NaOH, "Whiff test" Once you have a firm diagnosis then you have to snoop around to find out what is causing it. I would suggest that you dont ejaculate into her. Also cotton undies that breathe, for her not you. No oral sex, no lubricants, no front and back door action in the same act. How old is she? I doubt you are giving it to her unless you are humping some hookers on the side. |
There are 2 new treatments that she could try
One is called Clindesse a one time vaginal bioadhesive cream with suspended clindamycin or Tindamax which is more or less a new form of metronidazole or flagyl. Tastes like shit and will make you feel like shit if you have alcohol with it. Dont ask me how I know! ETA: Please submit your insurance card, any reimbursement will be donated to buy memberships for the more unfortunate. |
I just read where the 2 HPV vaccines that are being worked on cover HPV 16 and 18 and the two most common strains that cause gential warts |
Damn... That would be at least 5 oak leaf clusters on the ol'redwings...! |
Stripper/hooker "Dude youre weird" ARDOC, "Who did your boob job? He actually did nice work" Stripper/hooker, "Um..." ARDOC, "When did you have your c-section?" Stripper/hooker, "How do you know I had a c-section? You know what I am going to go ask some of the other guys." |

No hookers post marriage. She is 31. I noticed an increase in symptoms in her after ejaculation a year ago, so that has stopped. She uses cotton briefs. Nothing that can lead to saliva in vagina. No front and back door at the same time. Frustrating thing is, she went to the Woman Doc for her annual Birth Control Pill checkup Monday. Wife told the nurse about the suspected BV. Nurse did all the things they normally do during that visit. Four days later (today) wife calls them back to see if test results indicated BV. Nurse that took the PAP didn't check for BV. PAP looks good. Over the phone, the doctor asks what the symptoms are. Wife describes them over the phone. Discharge, odor, mild itch. Doc calls in prescription, and we picked it up. No lab work done. |
She was prescribed Clindamax (2%). And was warned about alcohol. |
