Another member previously posted about a rifle case that he had purchased from Elite Tactical Sources and was recommending for purchase.  I went to their website and thought the item looked promising.  I ordered one last Friday evening.  The company shipped it the following Monday and it arrived this afternoon.  Here’s what I have found with this item:

On the front of the case are three exterior detachable molle pouches; two smaller pouches on the side and one larger one in the center.  The case is 40 inches in length.

The back of the case includes a padded shoulder carry strap.

As stated earlier, the pouches are detachable.  Shown below is a detached smaller pouch.

The pouches are held shut by means of velcro and quick release clips.  Each pouch additionally has a “stretchy” lanyard for holding snug whatever you are carrying.

Shown here is the interior of one of the two smaller pouches.  The forty round value pack is for demonstrating the size of the pouch.  I could put five of these value packs in without effort.  It is a good size for carrying the normal firearm accessories that we normally trudge to the range.  Although not shown there is a divider on the inside pouch.

Here is an inner view of the large pouch.  As you can see, it can hold a magazine pouch with two additional magazines on either side without problems.

The first set of zippers on this case allow access to a padded compartment below the pouches.  There are two flat side compartments on each side which are closed with velcro.  They are large enough that 30 round mags could be carried here.  I would imagine that a thin shooting mat could be contained across the top of the two smaller side compartments.

The second set of zippers opens up the actual rifle compartment.  Shown is a Colt Sporter with adjustable stock fully extended.  As you can see there is plenty of room for it and is large enough that it appears as though it could accommodate any AR style weapon.  The case is 40" in length.

Additionally, there are two compression straps to keep your rifle held firmly in place.  The rifle is padded fully in all directions including the seam.  The interior of the case is nylon to minimize rubbing and wear

As you may have surmised, I’m very pleased with this purchase.  The shipping was lightning fast and the quality of the item appears top notch.  I see no stitching or other defects.

Now, here’s the best part.  The cost of this case is $45.75.  With $7.95 shipping, my total cost for this item was $53.70.

This item now carries with it the Johnny Reno Seal of Approval.

I got cheap and bought a $17.95 2 rifle plastic case from Walmart.  It'll last  a few years, and then I'll get something else.

Thanks.  It's not paint though.  It's a Bearcoat finish.  (teflon)

I ordered a couple of these two weeks ago, and for the money, you cant beat them.

I will buy more as I need, and I am a long time Eagle owner.

I checked and couldn't find any "made in ..." tags.

Oh well, thanks for the review either way

For that price you have to assume it's made in China.

Similar cases by Eagle (USA) are around $100.

eta: Thanks for the review, Johnny_Reno.  I immediately e-mailed the site and your article to a friend of mine at the Department who was looking at a rifle case.  I actually just looked all over for the "right" case, and chose a Blackhawk ($100).  I almost want to buy one of these, just to have for my 2nd rifle (which I WILL get someday)...

Good pics too!

It's not paint.  It's a Bearcoat finish.

Basically, it's teflon.  You can fry an egg on your rifle when you're done shooting it.

Great writeup !

I would like to request this same sort of post for every AR product out there. It would be nearly impossible, but stuff like this is really helpful in deciding what to purchase.

I have a dream...

The case length is 40".  I believe a Garand is 43".

Check the site or call them.  They may have something larger.

I'll take a pic of mine shortly.  As to where it is made, it is a mystery no longer.  It is indeed a very nice case, I could not believe it, it is made in China.

So I ask myself, if I had known ahead of time as to its place of manufacture, would I get one anyway?  It's a tough call.  It has so many nice touches and meticulously put together, a similar product made here can easily fetch $120 to $150.  It has none of the tell tale cheap Chinese workmanship signs, except for the unusual inside lining of the three pouches.  I hate to admit, it is the nicest soft case I have.  Maxpedition's Silver case costs about the same, but it's shorter and missing many useful features of this case.

Light it on fire in protest. And then burn the rest of the contents of your wallet, as well!

Burn the witch! The Chinese witch! Who hides behind the lo-cost curtain of socialist indecency!
