Baffled Device Of The Day...

One of the most versatile suppressors out there. She's like a 32 db.

If MI is truly going to let us enjoy quiet shooting... I might need to know about some of this stuff!

Coupler sits behind any standard NATO flash and the suppressor threads into the coupler.

On and off in 30 seconds, no more special adaptors or removing the flash.

Actually the DoD tested them on M249 and they surpassed expectations.

I'm looking for the data now.

I'd be interested on what you find....and is that shooting regular ammo, or some sort of sub-sonic ammo?

I don't know a lot about suppressors, but it seems to me full auto would burn it out fairly quick....

no, you can slap that thing on anything you own. some imported guns are banned for threading or changing to fit the can on but over all its yours and you can do what you want with it.  as long as its legal in your state.

Whatever the term is....I do know that at least in older suppressors there are a series of baffles or packed material, and after so many rounds, they start to lose their effectiveness, neccesitating their replacement, or disposal of the supressor.

But I don't think they last forever....

I posted it on an older topic and now can't find it.

Generally belt feds are kryptonite to suppressors, this one actually survived and performed somewhat, enough to impress the DoD anyway.

They are a NFA item and registered in the same manner as a machine gun or short barrelled rifle. There is a $200 tax for each one you buy and instead of a 4473 you do a Form 4.

And that is what makes this one nice. Instead of one suppressor for your HK, one for an AUG and one for an AR-15 at $200 each, this one fits all.

no pics as im waiting for my form 4's to come back from my CLEO then off to ATF they go.

anyway yeah all you need to own a supperor is "live in a state that allows them, pay 200 doller one time tax of 200 dollers per device, file a form 4 witch involves getting fingerprints passport sized photo and you need a Chief law enforcment sign off (essently the sherriff or Chief of police saying yeah this person has a clean record and legally own such a device) if transfered to a corporation you still need the form 4 but no fingerprints, cleo signoff or photos needed but the corp owns the item not you so if you ever sell the corp you either have to transfer them to you and repay the tax's as its another transfer or sell them with the corp.

My limited understanding about the Halo was that after a hundred round burst the supressor was considered ruined. Supposedly sustained fire is a no no. The suppressor heats up and after a certain temp. it will melt the lead in the bullet before it leaves the muzzle causing it to become unstable and leading to baffle strikes. The baffle strikes are what ruin the suppressor. The .308 isn't supposed to have as much of a problem during sustained fire because there is more lead in the bullet, and it would take too long for it to melt enough to cause instability.
I am no expert, and this is just what I remember about it. I could be wrong.

another sidequestion:  ok, then why would a silencer be disallowed?
