I wish I could find an AR-15 or two laying around
http://www.channelcincinnati.com/news/6393790/detail.html?rss=cin&psp=news |
Why am I not surprised? |
umm had to fix that edit: and just because the press called it an AR15 doesn't mean squat...I think everyone here is fully aware of how gun-ignorant the press is. |
Leave the lower on little blocks with every removable part stripped!
Meh, I got 10:1 odds it was a semi. |
Holy shnikeys dont find one of those everyday! I would have assumed the AR gods gave me a present.
I could imagine the shitstorm this would have created if the rifle was never found. "I am the only one pofessional enough to load this rifle in a trunk" |
man, you're no fun |
Well, they did say AR-15...not M-16, so i am assuming its a semi....
Hell, they'll probably give the LEO a medal, and arrest the kid for having a AW in his posession on school property |
I know I would have been looking for the sear hole and hten deciding what to do. I would turn it in. After running about a bazillion mags thru it |
they also called it an "assault rifle" which obviously means it's only for assaulting. you and subnet are a couple of buzzkills. |
This goes way beyond the "people make mistakes" excuse that could possibly be used. That guys was just a dumb ass.
now you're talking |
Hey, I did say in my first post...stash it in my trunk! |
Would that be wrong? It's not stealing. |
Take it all except the stripped lower reciever on blocks, as was said.....that would have been too funny....
I know plenty of people (even a few cops) who would've done just that. The stripped lower goes into the ocean and the rest gets some duracoat. Talk about an AR chop shop! |
for safe keeping of course... |
Even though it was misplaced, it would be listed as stolen by the police. Nothing gets a JBT's hackles up more than a citizen with a nice EBR. When you got stopped with an AR listed as stolen from the police you would be screwed possession of firearm during commission of crime (if select-fire) + possession of stolen property all in one package. |
I dont think I could ever forget my AR-15. Its like leaving your arm or leg. Thats how much they cost these days.
bwhahahahahaahahhahahahaha ETA: My coworker just came into my office... "what are you laughing at?" That's good stuff. |
Very true....I was speaking tongue in cheek...although, an stripped lower only costs around $200... |
Its a lot easier when you don't pay for it.... |
Could have been a select fire. What are the chances the PR person incharge of that statement would have eluded to it being a machinegun vs. an AR15? Not very big.
Very careless. :\ |
what are the odds it wasn't operational? He could have just left behind something that was as dangerous as a baseball bat...
-HS |
Ehhh...
I leave tools on jobs all the time. The guy is human. I am just glad no one decided to use it and got hurt. |
Remember the convo we had last weekend? Don't ask don't tell.... |
And from an officer! Nice to see you have the same sense of humor I do. |
"Excecllent record" That just means that the officer was never tasked with anything remotely challenging or complicated. |
(Thinks back to the three deer rifles and a Ruger .22 in a hardcase I found on the range back in November)
Nah, He's still a dumbass. |
so by the zero tolerance policy was he suspended because he wa sin possession, if only for a minute and only to turn it in?
Feinstien said it would happen but she said they would fall off ice cream trucks, not cop cars.
Stupid liar. |
I don't care what yall say, I would have kept it. Finders keepers and all that shit...
Stag Arms stripper lowers for $85 @ eagle firearms |
So I guess if somebody finds your wallet and takes the money out of it, it's not stealing? You have your driver's license in your wallet and it all can be traced back to you. Same thing with a gun. It has a serial # that can usually be traced through transactions. If you lost a gun would you not want it returned? |
Biggest bunch of BS I ever read.... stripped lowers can be had for around $100. |
Too funny. |
Here's how the story will go...
The rifle was left there as part of an undercover sting operation. The Evil assault weapon was left there as a trap, much like a robotic deer that game and fish use to catch poachers. If the kid had put the gun in his trunk we would have arrested him in a second. Unfortunately, the kid did the right thing and reported it, gosh darn it. |
What ever happened to finders keepers. |
Not the smartest thing to do ... and on school property no less.
Not anymore I would have kept the upper and parts as a finders fee..returned the rest(lower) and still keep the badge of honor as an upstanding citizen |
