if you dont know what it is click here:fs2000
I really like the design and since it shoots a 5.56 I can find ammo easily. The price is pretty steep and I have not heard a lot of talk about it. So, do you think I should get it or wait for something better? (fn scar) |
Got to play with one at SHOT. Wasn't real impressed. It was neat and all, but not worth the obsene sticker price. Not too sure about the front end ejection either...
ok, I guess I should just get a nice 1911 instead... |
Seens like a cool rifle, but it shoots the same rounds as my AR15. Depending on the cost will determine if I buy one or not. If it has an insane price tag, they can keep it. I see a sticker price of 2200 dollars. I'll wait till it goes down. If not I guess I can buy a ATV instead.

why is it better than an AR? ..other than being slightly shorter.
Just what the hell is so special about this that is deserves such an outreageous price? While from what I have seen and read it should be a great gun, its not like is a leap forward in technology. I actualy don't know of anything that this gun has that has not been seen before. Unless they consider their ejection idea to be some kind of saviour to a problem that doesn't exist anyways. |
you all make great sense, thank you for your input. I was really considering this.
if you want a 5.56 bullpup, what are your other options? AUGs are expensive and rare, M17s are unreliable and rare, and there are very few L85s or FAMAS rifles in the US. are there any other 5.56 bullpups out there?
That Bushmaster one. I got to shoot one and I liked it. ETA: Oops, my bad, I just looked to find what an M17 was, and that is the Bushmaster one. |
Actually, with the way the FS2000 price has gone up, you can buy a USR for not much more money. Sure, it has a butt-hole stock, but so does the FS2000. |
That's a lotta money for only a "kinda" cool rifle.
The Sig 556 for less than half looks better every day. |
I still, for the life of me can't understand why all these foreign countries are trying to bring these rifles in... We are a country with a military arms market FLOODED with 5.56mm battle rifles. Factoid Weenies, please note that I did not say every houshold has 3 AR15's in it, but a likely purchaser of an FS2000 already has at least 1 or 2 AR's.
These guns should have been .308's. |
I have yet to see or hear anything to suggest that it is a better weapon. Maybe the shorter OAL will work in CQB situations, but an 11.5 SBR AR15 would have all the punch one might need at those distances. |
and not everyone lives in a state where they can own a SBR, and not everyone wants to deal with all the NFA crap |
The Sig 556 may do many things well, but 'looking better' is not one of them. |
What happens if you shoot it up into the air, do they clog up? |
Go ahead and get it. It's cool gun unless you want to get a really nice washer and dryer set at Sears.
Nope, in fact you can obstruct the ejection tube with mud and debris and the casings will stack up in there and poke their way out. The action of the gun forces them forwards even against resistance. |
I want one, but I wouldn't pay any more than, say, 1,300 bucks for one. $2,200 is just too much money.
That said, kudos to FN for actually embracing the American civilian market. |
It does not do anything different that my 4 AR's don't do...and for a fraction of the cost.
I love, love, love, love, love FN for finally doing what few European arms companies will do and provide good firearms for the US market... but no way am I paying $2500 for that. I will, in all likelyhood, buy a PS90, but I'll stick with my AR for now in terms of a full-size rifle/carbine.
I think it's a neat rifle, with perhaps a good amount of potential. For the money though, I think I'll keep my AR. I will look into a Sig 556, or an Aug A3 first.

The butt-hole stock on the USR gets in the way of mag changes, in my experience. |
Hmmm, I was hoping to purchase one, just for the sake of having one and supporting FN selling to civilians. I think it's an interesting rifle, and would be a fun toy ( no dreams of it replacing any of my ARs though!!)
But at that price tag forget it. WTH happened, I thought originally the thing was going to come in under $1500? The FS2000 is destined to be a limited production run if that price stays. Hopefully that is just huge dealer markup, and after they start getting out to dealers regularly prices will drop...hopefully. The same feeling for the SIG, I would like one of those too, but will wait on it's final config specs to determine if it's worth it for me. |
I'd love to get one.....however, it's not going to happen unless the price comes down to about a half to a third of what it is now....
yea, I think FOR NOW I have decided to just pick up a 1911. Ill be calling my semi-local dealer tomorrow to see if he can ship it out for me ...I decided on the new Smith and Wesson 1911pd with tactical rail and scandium frame.
I agree, that's why I got rid of it. USR + Form 1 + <16" barrel = no 922(r) issues |
The ARM and PS90 are friggin' awesome and I'll probably buy both in the next few years. This thing looks pretty cool, but I can't get by the price tag.
I cant get by the price tag on the ammo for the PS90 |
Mine is on order.
HK and many others won't give US civilians the time of day. FN could (does) make a boatload selling to the military alone. I appreciate their bringing a first rate design to the civilian market. Designing it to use common AR mags was smart. I know if I was still in Kommiefornia seeing free staters obtaining this new weapon from the likes FN would irk me for sure. |
I also got to play with one at SHOT.
It's a quality gun, but I HATED the ergonomics. It felt like I was shouldering an uncomfortable hunk of lumber, not a rifle. I'd take an AUG any day over the FS2000! |
well, after some searching on the internet I found one at a price of $1750, obviously no stock yet, but that is the price one dealer will be charging. So I think the price will have a chance to drop once they figure out the demand.
Wolf's supposed to start importing 5.7mm here soon. |
that will make the gun much more appealling. |
-or 6.8 |
Bill Hicks & co has 'em for $1706.
Might be worth it as an investment...you know those won't last..too evil looking! Then once banned, your $1700 will be worth $3000 or more.....a guy can dream can't he?!?! |
I just heard they won't be available until the end of the year. If the House goes Democrat they'll never reach the market in any numbers.
Bush said he'll sign an AWB and the RINO Senate, even if it doesn't change hands, will pass an AWB. |
I am going to buy one. I got to handle at the 2005 SHOT SHOW, and it felt like it would be a fun rifle...but not as good as the AUG.
I love my AUGs but do not own a A2 so the FN2000 with different optics might be fun. The price tag is a little high. I was all for one at 1,700 to 1,800 but 2,200 to 2,500 is too much. |
I've shot one.
Was not impressed. It jammed spent cases in the goofy forward ejection port several times over the day. It's a bat-gun for sure. But I'll take an AR. |
If the FN was closer to the original price they stated Id say yes, NOW, Its to damn expensive for little or no advantage IMO
It looks like a really neat gun, and I would love to buy one. I just don't know when I'll have the money. I'm wary of the people that like to say it jams though. It's supposed to be an extremely reliable weapon.
Add "weighing less" to that comparison too.....that Sig is obscenely heavy for an "assault rifle" |
That Sig thing is just hideous... |
I think the price you hear qouted has a premium added. odds are they'll be more reasonable in time. |
