I heard part of an interview with a guy who I think is going to be working at al jazeera's washington studio-there will be 4 total (I forget where). Very intelligent jewish guy, very strange to hear his PR pitch about al jazeera.

Al-Jazeera is the only non-state news station in the Arab world.
They are well respected for a reason.
They obviously have some bias towards their own (who doesnt) but they handle most issues pretty evenhandely.

I am familiar with them, they are based out of Qatar which seems to be a somewhat progressive country by their neighbor's standards.

It would be nice if the cooperated more with us in regards to submitted tapes, etc... otherwise they are the best press outlet the middle east has to offer.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think there are other arab nations that forbid receiving their broadcast within their borders.

I am not going to argue against this, since it is pointless to do so on this forum; however, is it not like the Christians supporting Jews/Israel with one breath, and then saying that the Jews are all going to go to hell with the next?

Talked about how Jews aren`t blowing up churches and cafe`s in germany. Or useing terror to win respect.

No, they just blew up hotels and residential buildings in modern day Israel during the first half of the 20th century.

My problem is that she is historically wrong on a lot of the concepts; such as Buddhists not destroying mosques and other things of that nature.

If I interpret her lightly as just saying,"Islam needs to reform", I might possibly agree; however, it seems like she would just wish to see Muslims disappear off the face of the earth.

also, a lot of the stuff she is saying could easily be extended to the non-Abrahamic religious Africans; of course, with the number of 88's on this forum, I don't think that most would complain if one called African cultures totally backwards and called the people worthless.

It's all in your imagination that all religions are as dangerous as the "Abrahamic" ones. If there one thing people should know about the east (Bhuddhists, taoists,Hindus,Jains, Confusionists) is that they have hardly ever fought about religion.

There is nothing wrong with being "backwards and worthless" as long as that does'nt cause you to be a homocidal maniac or cause problems for all the people that live around you. But if it does then maybe you should reevaluate your culture. as to your '88' comment, well i woul'nt worry about it here. All salafists are welcome and protected on ARFCOM , all the christian 'playa haytas' are banned any time they critisise someone else even if it's the truth.

90% of the problem in those countries is they are SCARED....one big bunch of spineless asshats. Glad that they are getting tired of being scared, and are calling terrorists TERRORISTS. And calling BS on the "versions"/interpretations of Islam being "taught".... (kinda like some of the versions/interpretatins of "Christianity" being "taught" over here, in some places! And can PROBABLY "ditto" that with ANY religion, I just try to stick to the topics I at least have SOME clue about, at least... and I know too little about the Jewish faith and the "versions" and Hinduism, and THEIR "versions", and Buddahgism, and THEIR "versions" etc.... (Though even I have to admit we're doing a MUCH better job than even just 20 years ago!)) But, both still have a ways to go. And spines to be found....
